We join Captain James T. Kirk and Montgomery "Scotty" Scott at the maiden voyage of the third Enterprise, but things take a turn for the worse as the ship must rescue two ships from a mysterious energy ribbon, where Kirk is lost into space and is presumed dead. We join the new Captain Picard 78 years later, as they must fight against the renegade scientist Soren,who is bent on destroying entire star systems with trilithium missiles. Picard learns that Soren is trying to return to the Nexus, the energy ribbon where Kirk lost his life. When Picard is sent to the Nexus he encounters an unexpected officer who may be able to help him defeat Soren.
