The Beach is the cinematic adaptation of Alex Garland's (28 Days Later, Sunshine) bestselling novel, directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours). Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio, Titanic, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, Inception, What's Eating Gilbert Grape) is an American teenager touring Bangkok, out looking for kick's ' like drinking snake blood among other things ' when he runs into a loopy traveler at the hostel he's staying at named Daffy (Robert Carlyle, The Full Monty, Ravenous) who gives him a map to paradise: an inhabited beach off the coast that's supposed to contain more natural splendor than any place on Earth. Intrigued and seeking something different out of his travels, Richard hooks up with a French couple and the trio venture out to the mysterious island. There, they come upon a commune of dreamers who sought the ultimate paradise on Earth, presided over by an ethereal female leader named Sal (Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton). But soon, the outside world and trouble, finds the occupants of the beach'moreless
