The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh is the story of a struggling sports franchise and their rise from worst to first. Moses Guthrie (Julius Erving) is the star player of the Pittsburgh Pythons, a team that has seen better days. A long losing streak and an exodus of talent have turned the once proud franchise into a perennial cellar-dweller, not to mention the laughingstock of the town. When all other options are exhausted, management takes a shot on a flimsy idea by ball-boy Tryone Millman (James Bond III). Millman consults with local astrologer Mona Mondieu (Stockard Channing). Mondieu comes up with a new plan: rebuild the team using players who share the astrological sign of their current star Guthrie. The retooled team, now called the Pittsburgh Pisces, takes to the court and starts winning. But will it take more than luck to win the league championship? Gilbert Moses directs this 1979 sports comedy.
