Globally, there is a huge range of governance and policy responses to the climate change issue.

International Action  

At the international level, most countries are participating in cooperative actions that derive from the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and 1997 Kyoto Protocol. There also a number of other international climate change activities being pursued, particularly through regional groups such as the European Union and the Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) organisation.

Foreign Government Action

Individually the national governments of many countries have also undertaken detailed reviews and studies and developed their specific policies and actions to respond to climate change.

Domestic Action

In Australia, all levels of Government, but most particularly at the Commonwealth and state and territory levels have likewise developed their specific policies and actions to respond to climate change.
