1965
  • First idea of TUKS FM – lasted until end of year when station head disappeared with equipment
1980
  • Concept of TUKS FM established and staff recruited. First studio constructed in an old house at c/o Hilda & Duxbury Road
1981
  • First transmissions commence on 9 February – We broadcast to cafeteria only and launched with a live performance by David Kramer
1982-84
  • TUKS FM expands – broadcast points extended to all residences as well as Onderstepoort and Medical Campus
1989
  • TUKS FM wins the Camel Pyramid of Light (DJ/VJ competition)
  • TUKS FM becomes first campus radio station to play CD’s
  • A media new mixing desk is installed.
1990
  • TUKS FM closed down due to logistical problems.
  •        Re-opened under SRC appointed management.
1991
  • Break-in in studio. Most equipment replaced.
  •  10th anniversary celebrations.
1993
  • Broadcasts on FM over Rag ’93 (90.5 FM)
  • Broadcasts on FM over Inter-varsity
  • Purchase of new disco equipment
1994
  • Broadcasts on FM for ± 2 months (107.2)
  • Purchase of new studio equipment
  • Application submitted for a 1 year Temporary Community Broadcasting
  • License to the then Independent Broadcasting Authority
  • October: Break-in and theft of disco equipment
1995
  • Broadcasts on FM as Rag FM (107.2)
    Break-in, sabotage of studio and member held hostage.
  • Replacement of disco equipment        
  • 24 April: Start broadcasting with first 1 year license on 107.2 FM stereo at 100W
  • Construction and opening of new FM studios (The Student Centre on Campus) in September, Tuks FM moves into new studio
1996
  • Nedbank TUKS FM tower on Rag Farm
  • Second license application granted on 15 April TUKS FM on the WWW October: Three TUKS FM journalists arrested during a campus demonstration
  • OB equipment goes up in smoke
  • Become the first station in SA to play the Macarena...
1997
  • 17 April: Third temporary community broadcasting license granted.
  • Rated most popular organisation on campus
  • SAARF, AMPS measure indicates 59 000 listeners
  • Production studio built
  • December: Break-in and R25 000 damage and lightning hits desk
  • Host of the 1st New Years Bash in Hatfield Square with a record turnout of 6000 people
1998
  • Representative Council is created in line with ICASA regulations
  • Win a New UNO at Annual UNO Jam Day
  • 18 April: Fourth 1 year license granted
  • Submit 4 year license application to IBA
  • DJ Nude Day for the last time
  • Rob West broadcasts for 24 hours non stop
  • AMPS diary measured at 54 000
  • Winner of the Pretoria IMM “Emerging Marketer of the Year” Competition
1999
  • RAMS figures measure a record 67 000 listeners
  • Consultant is appointed to help with restructuring of the radio station
2000
  • First full time Station Manager is appointed – Rian van Heerden
  • Radio Tuks’ name is changed to TUKS FM and the logo is revised
  • The 2nd official Tuks FM New Year’s Party on the roof of Menlyn Shopping Centre (Party of Endurance)
2001
  • Tuks FM's 20th birthday is celebrated at the Menlyn IMAX.
  • Tuks FM's JOU MA campaign is launched and the station receives astonishing attention.
  • Pretoria metropolitan council bans the JOU MA poster.
  • The first live on-air birth ever in broadcasting history is organised
  • Tuks FM hosts UP Spring Day, an event which was attended by around 15 000 students.
  • The JOU MA campaign is taken further when Tuks FM organises the 2001 New Year's party at the Voortrekker Monument, attracting approximately 7000 people. (Motherland)
2002
  • Tuks FM receives 1st 4-year broadcasting licence from ICASA.
  • Tuks FM turns 21, celebrating with parties at 21 different venues across Gauteng.
  • 17 March: Tuks FM launches a new programming schedule, which includes programs like Flush and The Next Level, with the Reborn Campaign. Streaming audio is launched.
  • Tuks FM gains international publicity at Madiba’s 85th Birthday, on CNN International.
  • Tuks FM makes national news once again with a controversial selection poster. (Happy Sindane)
  • New Year’s party at Splash in Centurion attracts 4000 people (Model Child).
2003
  • Tuks FM broadcasts the Top 40 from the Sin Bin café on Friday’s
  • 22nd Birthday party at Recess (The Game)
  • Tuks FM gladiators at the Pretoria show – Tuks FM crew and listeners fight to the “death” New Year’s Party – 7000 people attend at Zwartkops air force base. (Mother Ring)
2004
  • March Tuks FM appoints it’s first full time program manager Tim Zunckel, and full time news editor Marius van der Walt
  • July – Tim Zunckel takes over as acting station manager following the former station manager’s resignation
  • 23rd Birthday party at Recess
  • Programming re-launch with Total Radio Takeover requests, change in news format
  • New Year’s Party – at the State Theatre and Strijdom Square 5000 people attend (Mothership)
2005
  • March: TUKS FM appoints its second full time Station Manager, Richard Perry from 94.7’s Rude Awakening.
  • Introduce 100% play listing.
  • Introduce a full programming policy, advertising policy and station policies.
  • Re-design station logo and identity with the pay off line “Your Music – Your Capital”.
  • Tuks FM hires Barney Simon for a specialist show once a week and Tuks FM starts to gain positive publicity.
  • Tuks FM unites with Woodstock to become the official radio partner of the festival.
  • Tuks FM brings the capital K’s Choice Unplugged, Live in South Africa and as the only media partner, successfully sells out all tour dates in Gauteng.
  • 24th birthday at The Foundry Fly Lounge (“Back to the Future”)
     
  • New Year’s Party at Hatfield Square (The Gods of Rock)
2006
  • Tuks FM launches the “School of Rock” for the first time & receives 90 000 sms votes during the 3 week campaign. The aim was to find the school in Tshwane with the most spirit, the brain child of Francois du Toit. The first “Tuks FM School of Rock” was Affies Meisies with 13 000 votes in 10 minutes.
  • Tuks FM acquires a new national record for the longest broadcast by a single presenter smashing the previous record of 24 hours as held jointly by Rob West (Tuks FM) and Mark Gilman (5FM), with a Massive 55 hours of non-stop broadcasting by Stav Yiannakis.
  • 15 July: Tuks FM hosts the 25th anniversary reunion, inviting all former members from the past 25 years of the stations existence.
  • September: 1st monthly Eclectic Mix Party, brain child of, and hosted by Stav Yiannakis.
  • 31 October: Tuks FM revamp is completed with an official opening by the Vice Principal. The revamp costs total of over R1,000,000.00!

    Tuks FM hosts the second consecutive New Years Party on Hatfield Square (Capital Countdown). The highest attendance figure to date;7200 people.
2007
  • Tuks FM launches the second season of the “School of Rock” and receives critical acclaim with over 80 000 sms’ and 4 schools competing in the final quiz evening. The net result, Tuks FM’s Bang Bang Breakfast broadcast live from winning school, Hoërskool Centurion, Sponsored by Vodacom.
  • February: 1st All Star Club 100 hosted on the balcony with 100 loyal listeners for breakfast.
  • March: 1st On The Rocks session 1 hosted with Klopjag, unplugged and a dinner at the Performer.
  • May: 1st Full time Business Manager appointed, Loutjie van der Merwe
  • May: 11th All Star Club 100 hosted by the afternoon drive team at News Café Zambesi
  • May: 25th Birthday Party hosted at Safari Pub (Jungle Fever)
  • May: Programming Manager Tim Zunckel resigns after serving 10 years at Tuks FM to move to the SABC.
  • June: 2nd On The Rocks session 2 hosted with Wonderboom, unplugged and a dinner at the Performer Theatre. July: 2nd Full time Programming Manager appointed, Stav Yiannakis.
  • July: MK89 and Tuks FM team up for weekly national broadcast, termed “dual cast” on TV and Radio simultaneously.
  • July: Launch classics show on weekends called The Mix tape.
  • August 4th: Host the 1st Tuks FM Under 18’s party at Thrashers Skate Park.
  • September 1st: Host Recess Original Spring Day Party.
  • October: 30th On The Rocks session 3 with re-united band PEREZ, unplugged and a dinner at the Performer Theatre.
  • November: Tuks FM hosts Jingle Bell Rock-The first Christmas show for charity at Centurion Mall with Tuks Kamerata & Klopjag. A total of 1219 toys were collected, with over 3000 people attending the event.
  • December 31st: Tuks FM “Psychedelic” New Years party hosted at Hatfield Square.    
2008
  • Tuks FM launches the third season of the “School of Rock” on 11 February 2008 sponsored by Vodacom, Turbovite & Standard Bank.
  • 12th May Tuks FM On the Rocks session 4 hosted with Evolver, unplugged and a dinner at the Performer Theatre.
  • Blanket Drive 5th of May
  • Station Manager Loutjie van der Merwe appointed on 1st May
  • May 13th Tuks FM centenary celebrations
  • Annual Breakfast run June 1st.
  • Boys High vs Affies Party at old boys on 7th June.
  • 28th July Tuks FM On the Rocks session 5 hosted with 5th Karen Zoid, unplugged and a dinner at the Performer Theatre.
  • Launch of Magic 8 ball. On the 8th of the 8th of the 8th Tuks FM gives away R8888.88.
  • 13th September Tuks FM co-lab b-day with Maloney’s Rock Fest.
  • Andre Kunz on behalf of Tuks FM, wins SA national radio forum award for best community breakfast presenter.
  • Tuks FM sponsors Woodstock 2008.
  • 21st November Tuks FM hosts Jingle Bell Rock Christmas show for charity at Centurion Mall with Albert de Wet, The Paradigm and Lonehill Estate.
  • 6th Dec Mistetunes hosted at Atterbury Value Mart featuring
  • 31st Dec, Tuks FM and Piggs Peak  host the “High Rollers new year’s party” in Hatfield Square.
