Overview

Headington School, Oxford, is a vibrant boarding and day school for girls.

In addition to its impressive academic credentials, its greatest strength lies in its commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of individuals. From flexible boarding options to a broad range of extra-curricular activities, Headington School is a place where students can discover and explore their own strengths and interests.

The school has an outstanding track record when it comes to results and its excellent academic and other achievements were highlighted in a recent inspection report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). The school has now added the International Baccalaureate to its Sixth Form curriculum as an alternative to A Levels. Results for the first cohort of IB students in summer 2011 were outstanding, with more than half of the cohort achieving total point scores or 40 and above, 45 being the maximum score.

As well as the high quality teaching and learning on offer, students can enjoy an exciting range of extra-curricular activities, from sports such as rowing, tennis, fencing and horse riding, to drama and music lessons. Students benefit from excellent facilities, from the purpose-built theatre, state-of-the-art music school and Astroturf, to the 23 acres of beautiful gardens and playing fields.

The senior and preparatory schools are just a short walk from Oxford city centre with its world-famous university, museums and ‘dreaming spires’. Students benefit from the proximity of the university as visiting speakers frequently come to the school from a wide range of university departments.
