Hollywood Today: Boyz II Men to Get Star on Walk of Fame

Also: A gala to benefit Hollywood Central Park; the Focus on Female Directors at American Cinematheque; Boardner's kicks off a new performance series.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame will induct its first honorees of 2012 on Thursday with a ceremony for R&B group Boyz II Men, set to receive the 2,456th star on the famed landmark. The group has received numerous awards and is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The star will be located near Motown artists the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Miracles and the Temptations. The ceremony starts at 11:30 a.m. at 7060 Hollywood Blvd. in front of LiveNation.

  • The The Hollywood United Neighborhood Council Planning, Land Use and Management Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at Seventh day Adventist Church of Hollywood.   • American Cinematheque is hosting the 7th Annual Focus on Female Directors shorts program that will showcase documentarians, animators and emerging stars from the international festival circuit at 7:30 p.m. A reception will follow the screening and discussion. Screenings include Maryna Vroda's Cross, Mollie Jones' Animal Love, Jess Holzworth's Gamma Ray, Mitsuyo Miyazaki’s Tsuyako, Wonjung Bae’s Vera Klement: Blunt Edge, Saba Riazi’s The Wind Is Blowing on My Street, Natasha Subramaniam and Alisa Lapidus’ Zergüt, Penelope Spheeris’ No Use Walkin' When You Can Stroll. A reception will follow the screening and discussionTickets: $11.


  • For the Love of Hollywood gala, benefitting Hollywood Central Park, will honor L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, actress Darryl Hannah and more at the Taglyan Complex, starting at 7 p.m. Funds raised will help efforts to create a 44-acre park in Hollywood.


  • Starting at 9 p.m., Boardner's restaurant and nightclub kicks off its Celebrity Thursday 18-and-over club. We Are Heroes from America's Best Dance Crew is scheduled to perform. 


  • Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum is in the middle of a preview for its newly refurbished attraction. Exhibits feature a life-size Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator decorated in Hollywood films, a Marilyn Monroe-inspired collection, a mosaic of Angelina Jolie made of tiny airsoft balls, skulls carved from unusual materials and a lot more. The museum will officially reopen to the public later this month.
