We New Zealanders love the internet, and we have a pretty good sense of humour, too. We've created loads of memes (or been the subject of them) over the past couple of years, and PC World has gathered a few of the better ones for your perusal. Feel like one's missing? Let us know in the comments.

Ghost chips

By now you've probably seen this legendary drink driving ad, but just in case you haven't, it's very well-written.

If you're thinking, "But I wouldn't call that an internet meme", fair enough, and we might not either. It went viral, but it was created for TV. However, the ad did spawn a couple of gems, including one that's a bit of a new take on the 'Steve Jobs/Bill Gates laughing together' meme.

Rugby World Cup 2011

There were a couple of images from RWC 2011 that made me laugh out loud. One of them is this image of Piri Weepu, posted after his now-legendary performance in the All Blacks' quarter final against Argentina.

The image spawned t-shirts that said 'Everyone calm down, Piri's on', and 'Piri's got this'. All of this became popular before Weepu's next performance, which then, of course, didn't live up to the public's over-hyped expectations. Then in the final, Weepu was injured and didn't play well, and everyone fell in love with Stephen Donald instead.

Of course, Donald wouldn't have had to go on at all if it weren't for that fact that Dan Carter had a groin injury. Which brings me to the other RWC meme that made me laugh out loud (although some people thought it was a little 'too soon'). Of course, it sucks that he was injured and I'm sure his lifelong dream was ripped away from him, and that's terrible, but...

Yes, Dan Carter apparently starred in the classic, classic short film, 'Man Getting Hit by Football'.

We'd post a video of our Prime Minister's awkward handshake, too, but that one's been taken off of YouTube at the command of the International Rugby Board. Can you believe it?

We have funny accents

We can't talk about New Zealand memes without mentioning the Beached Az short film. This one wasn't actually made in New Zealand or by New Zealanders. It's making fun of us Kiwi folk, so naturally it was made by a group of Aussies at the Australia Broadcasting Corporation. Fair enough, fellas. We'd do the same if we didn't have so many ghost chups to eat.

We don't mind making fun of ourselves, either, so the Beached Az whale was a hit with Kiwis. It's got nearly 400,000 hits on YouTube and I'd wager that more than half of those viewers are from the land of the long white cloud.

It's Friday in Auckland

Remember Rebecca Black? We're sure you don't want to, even if you do. She was (and is, we suppose) a 14-year-old budding American pop singer who got famous for being really, really bad at making music.

What you may or may not have noticed is that in her horrendous music video for her, er... 'hit song', her and her friends are in a limo driving around a city. Where are they 'partyin', partyin', yeah'? Just up the road from the PC World offices in Auckland, New Zealand. Yikes.
