Now on Checkpoint: New Interactive Decision Tools

Announcing Interactive Decision Tools on our industry-leading Thomson Reuters Checkpoint platform. The tools are designed to help tax professionals, accountants, and auditors resolve frequently encountered, yet challenging, tax and accounting issues through an innovative application.

Interactive Decision Tools, an industry first-to-market, present selected issues in a dynamic interview format that guides subscribers through the decision-making process and all relevant considerations to reach the ultimate conclusion. To provide further convenience and efficiency, the tools include embedded calculations and editorial guidance to help users answer specific questions within the interviews; input fields for users to document their responses; and summaries that capture all the questions, answers, and user notes to facilitate review.

“Tax and accounting professionals can feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the tax, accounting, and auditing regulations and standards,” said Jim Reeves, vice president, Professional Market, for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. “Our Interactive Decision Tools allow tax and accounting professionals at all levels of experience to tackle complex issues with increased efficiency and a greater sense of confidence that they have arrived at the correct answer.”

Interactive Decision Tools are tightly integrated with the relevant content on Checkpoint, including applicable primary source materials as well as expert analyses and guidance under the company’s industry-renowned brands of RIA, PPC, and WG&L. The tools also include state-of-the-art document assembly functionality that can auto-generate a client letter, memo, tax return attachment and other documents in Microsoft® Word to communicate the results or conclusions.

Subscribers can quickly locate the tool they need from any location within Checkpoint, including the ability to hyperlink from Checkpoint’s research content to the relevant tool, thereby launching the decision-making process for that particular issue in the user’s workflow. The release of Interactive Decision Tools follows a series of other enhancements to the Checkpoint platform this year, including the launch of a more intuitive and customizable interface in June, the addition of Thomson Reuters News & Insight targeted to tax and accounting professionals, and other new products such as GAAP Reporter.
