Good healthcare for married women and their families

I'm going to tell you about a woman who practices and preaches good healthcare. And no, I'm not talking about Teresa Heinz Kerry or Hillary Clinton. Please. I'm talking about a Catholic friend of mine, Michelle Sullivan.
Michelle is an Illinois resident and a young married mother of four children. She also is a FertiltyCare Practitioner for the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, currently promoted by the Omaha, Nebraska-based Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction (www.popepaulvi.com).
Michelle recently attended a conference in Omaha that unveiled what is known as NaProTechnology (Natural Procreative Technology), a system that "promises new hope for couples struggling with infertility and a wide range of other women's healthcare issues, including recurrent miscarriage, recurrent ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian disease, premenstrual syndrome, postpartum depression, and pre-term birth.
"Documented research shows that NaProTechnology's approach to infertility results in a pregnancy success rate one-and-a-half to three times higher than that of assisted reproductive technologies like in-vitro fertilization," according to a news release.
Among NaProTechnology's many breakthroughs, described in a new 1,300 page medical textbook filled with extensive research and data results, are:
It is 79 percent effective at helping women have a successful pregnancy after they have suffered repeated miscarriage;
It can help women learn that they are at risk for a miscarriage even before one has occurred;
It is 95 percent effective at treating Post-Partum Depression, which afflicts as many as one in five new mothers, often getting results within hours;
It cuts the rate of premature births in half, thus helping reduce the incidence of birth defects;
It effectively treats endometriosis with a lower rate of recurrence than methods doctors currently use;
It effectively treats women experiencing infertility with up to an 80 percent success rate.
"NaProTechnology works with women's health in a way that seeks to discover the underlying causes of abnormalities and then treats those causes that it does not either suppress or destroy the reproductive system," explains Dr. Tom Hilgers, Director of the National Center for Women's Health and Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Creighton University School of Medicine.
"In short, NaProTechnology doesn't try to control your body, it seeks to take care of it, identifying and treating problems instead of putting on band-aids like the birth control pill and other unhealthy alternatives."
And Michelle, a model mother and Catholic, has no qualms about embracing and promoting this emerging health science.
