DETROIT (WXYZ) - A day after she was reported missing by her husband, the body of 56-year-old Jane Bashara of Grosse Pointe Park was found in the back seat of her Mercedes Benz on Detroit's east side.

“She’d walk into a room and light it up. Somebody’s taken that life away”, said close family friend Kim Towar. "We don’t know anything and that’s the hard part. It’s the wondering and guessing, it’s just devastating", said Towar.

A tow truck driver looking for random stolen vehicles found Bashara's luxury vehicle around 7 a.m. Wednesday parked in an alley just off of Pinewood street near Bradford.

Sources tell Action News signs of trauma were found on Bashara's throat, chest and back.

Bashara, a mother of two, was active in Grosse Pointe Schools and was a marketing manager for KEMA.  Coworkers last saw her after a meeting at Detroit Edison Headquarters near downtown Detroit Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for KEMA released the following statement:

KEMA is deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the death of Jane Bashara today. She has been an employee of KEMA for over 2 years. She was very well respected and has many close colleagues here. We are doing everything we can to help Detroit police in the investigation and to support her family during this tragedy.

We don’t have more information to share at this time and are grieving the loss of a beloved co-worker.

Police believe Bashara made it back to her Grosse Pointe Park home after work, but when her husband returned around 8 p.m. she wasn't there.

Bashara's husband reported her missing to Grosse Pointe Park Police around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Detroit Police Homicide investigators at (313)596-2260.
