HUDS: EFFORT WAS SECOND TO NONE

Posted on: Sun 20 Nov 2011

Scorer of the Bluebirds' second and decisive goal against Reading on Saturday Mark Hudson praised his team-mates' application throughout a gripping encounter.

When chatting to Press at the Madejski Stadium following the game, the skipper's response to how he felt the ninety minutes had gone was: "Brilliant - our work-rate was second to none again.

"Reading put us under a lot of pressure and the Madejski is always a really tough place to come; they are a good side who work really hard and I think they'll be up there come the end of the season once more."

Huds registered his second goal of the season in the game - prodding in well at the near post from an expertly delivered Peter Whittingham free-kick.

"Yeah, I'll take that, but I'm happy with the three points we've taken more than anything else and the way we played the game," he continued. "We stuck together and fought for the result today. The noise from our fans was unbelievable, they were absolutely fantastic.

"Whitts' delivery for my goal was fantastic; but we expect that from him now - he's the best in the League at what he does. As for his goal I'm not sure if he meant it or not but he's certainly capable of that kind of goal.

"We've another big game now against Coventry. We've already spoken about the need to go there now on Tuesday night and back this win up with another one. The basis of this side is that we work hard for each other and see where that takes us."
