Look Before You Leap

How much will I make? And should I move to get a job there? Those are two of the most important questions asked by anyone considering joining the tech workforce or wondering whether to remain in the field. To help answer those questions, BusinessWeek asked Glassdoor, a Web site that tracks salary details at more than 28,000 companies globally, to rank the best and worst metropolitan areas for tech employment in the U.S., based on salary. Each slide contains the average base salary for tech jobs in each city, companies with substantial operations in the area, and examples of salaries at specific companies. The specific job salaries included here are based on at least 15 reports by individuals to Glassdoor for that job title at that company, unless otherwise noted.
