Question
Will Lotus SmartSuite or Lotus Organizer work on the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system?
Answer
Background:
SmartSuite applications (Lotus 1-2-3, Lotus Word Pro, Lotus Freelance Graphics, Lotus Approach, and Organizer 5.x) as well as Organizer 6.1 have worked on different releases of the Windows operating system, dating as far back as Windows DOS.
IBM/Lotus Product Development continues to support SmartSuite 9.8 and Organizer 6.1 applications on the Windows 2000 and XP platforms. Passport Advantage customers may download the latest fix packs from the Passport Advantage website.
Microsoft Windows 7:
Microsoft Windows 7 was released in both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit versions.
- The 32-bit version and 64-bit version of Windows 7 are supported by IBM/Lotus. No major compatibility issues have been reported when running SmartSuite or Organizer on the Windows 7 version. Therefore, Lotus Product Support is available to take calls related to Windows 7 from licensed SmartSuite and Organizer customers who are on active maintenance.
Please note:
At the Passport Advantage website, for SmartSuite Millennium or IBM Lotus Organizer, you may not see Windows Vista nor Windows 7 as an operating system choice to choose. The version that lists Windows XP also works on Windows Vista and Windows 7.
You may notice:
SmartSuite Millennium Edition 9.8 Win NT,98,2000,ME,XP... or SmartSuite Millennium Edition V9.8 for WinNT 95,98,2000,ME,XP (these also support Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7).
Also, the SmartSuite Millennium CD that you purchased can be used to install SmartSuite on Windows Vista or Windows 7; although the label does not show those versions.
