(NBC15) The Wisconsin Historical Society Museum will be keeping its doors opens after the Governor finishes his budget.

Governor Jim Doyle says the state's history is important and adds that he plans to protect the museum from the state's massive budget cuts.

Doyle told "The Capitol Times" newspaper that there won't be any layoffs and the facility will get to keep its $535,000 operating budget.

The museum had proposed to close and layoff eight employees to meet the Governor's request for a 10-percent budget cut.
