Postcode Anywhere has been providing award-winning services for over a decade.

Jamie Turner and I established Postcode Anywhere in 2001, having recognised the potential of using the internet to provide a much more efficient medium for delivering data.

We’d previously done a lot of work (and also burned our fingers) on a failed dotcom project and were aware of new technologies that would enable us to develop the service. What we lacked at the time was a practical application and customers who were prepared to act as guinea pigs!

Luckily for us, we had some experience using Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF®) database and felt that the market was being constrained by the cost and impracticalities of traditional CD solutions, which were both expensive to produce and required the customer to install and manage the updates.

Our interest was also raised by what we saw as large potential in the developing e-commerce market and the introduction of a new pay-per-click pricing model which enabled us to offer the service at far more flexible and competitive rates.

A lot has happened in the intervening years.

We have seen substantial growth, won more than our fair share of awards and also expanded our platform to accommodate lots of new data. Postcode Anywhere is now a leading independent company providing “information as a service”, with over 250 separate web services and 8,000 customers offering a broad range of business efficiency tools for address and data capture, validation and cleansing to geo-coding, mapping and route planning and optimisation.

More recently, we have opened up our platform with a new innovative range of services that will allow our customers to automatically create and securely publish their own web services with their own data to facilitate data sharing, data migration and data integration.

In our opinion having the technology to access good quality, consistent data is what separates the ordinary business from the successful business. It underpins good customer service and is key to providing the intelligence that puts a business ahead of its competitors.
