Good news for Hewlett-Packard shareholders: The company is increasing its dividend. On Friday afternoon, HP said in
a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that its board has authorized a 10 percent increase of its dividend, which is currently 12 cents per share. The increase will become effective when the company’s board declares its next dividend — likely sometime in May.

Rent.com, a subsidiary that helps renters find a place to live, to
Primedia, an Atlanta-based company that also owns home-rental resources, such as
ApartmentGuide.com,
Rentals.com and
RentalHouses.com. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. In 2005, eBay acquired Rent.com, which helped to build a platform to ship automobiles for eBay Motors.
