The Times Publishing Co. owns a strong portfolio of brands that combine to create west-central Florida’s preeminent information source in print and online. The company's portfolio includes the Tampa Bay Times (formerly the St. Petersburg Times), tampabay.com, and tbt* .

In 2012, the Times added another chapter to its rich history. The company's principal business in the portfolio, the St. Petersburg Times, changed its name to the Tampa Bay Times on Jan. 1, 2012. The new name reflects the newspaper it has already become and the region it serves. (Read more about the new name, the Tampa Bay Times)

The Times and all of its brands continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of the region by providing trusted and authoritative news to readers while helping advertisers convey their messages to consumers in traditional and innovative ways.

The Times, which is Florida's largest daily newspaper, has been part of the Tampa Bay community for more than 125 years. Locally owned and independent, the Times has long been celebrated for its outstanding and credible journalism, practiced with integrity in the public interest.
Its pioneering modern-day owner, Nelson Poynter, understood that at the heart of democracy is an independent and free press when he transferred ownership of the paper to a nonprofit journalism school, which today is known as the Poynter Institute, a mecca for professional media practitioners worldwide.
In addition to the newspaper, our digital ventures, specialty publishing and consumer expositions disseminate specialized information empowering people to make informed decisions that enhance their lives.
Through its journalism and enterprises, Times Publishing promotes democracy,  advocates for improved quality of life in Tampa Bay and is a dynamic community leader in the manner it does business.
