TORONTO, Ont. - There are reports the trees around the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where the G20 is being held, could be removed due to fears branches could be used as weapons.

Police said that after dismantling garbage cans and mailboxes, they are now targeting trees in the red zone.

It's not yet known how many trees will be uprooted.

Security officials said there is a real threat that tree branches could be thrown at police.
