Regions Party Leader Oleksandr Yefremov has confirmed that Petro Poroshenko has been appointed to the post of Ukraine's economic development and trade minister and Yuriy Kolobov to that of finance minister.

Yefremov announced this at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday, adding that this was official information.

Poroshenko headed the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) from 2007. He then served as foreign minister from October 2009 until March 2011.

Kolobov was appointed deputy governor of the NBU in April 2011, and was promoted to first deputy in November 2010. Prior to this he worked in Ukreximbank, was chairman of the board of BTA Bank, and treasury director at Oschadbank.

As reported, on Feb. 14, 2012, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych dismissed Andriy Kliuyev as first deputy prime minister and minister of economic development and trade and appointed him as secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in place of Raisa Bohatyriova.

On Feb. 22, Yanukovych appointed Valeriy Khoroshkovsky as Ukraine's first deputy prime minister after dismissing him as finance minister. Khoroshkovsky headed the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) from March 11, 2010 to Jan. 18, 2012. On Jan.18, Yanukovych appointed him as Ukraine's finance minister.
