Eddie Howe enjoyed a happy birthday with his side delivering the perfect present of three points and a clean sheet as the Clarets' revival gathered pace with a thumping victory over the mis-firing Tractor Boys.
A first Burnley goal for Sam Vokes, two from captain Chris McCann and an 11th of the season for top scorer Jay Rodriguez gave the Clarets a first home success in three attempts as they backed up their comeback win at Hull last Saturday in commanding style.
Burnley hadn't beaten Ipswich in their previous seven attempts but that statistic was effectively consigned to history once they led 2-0 at the break.
Vokes gave Howe's men a 33rd-minute lead as the on-loan Wolves striker made it five goals for five different clubs in his current scoring run and when McCann doubled the lead in the final minute of the first half Ipswich were on their way to a sixth straight defeat.
McCann had scored his first career goal against Ipswich and also got the winner the last time the Clarets beat Town back in 2006 and the midfielder, who led superbly from the front, then helped himself again as Burnley continued to dominate after the re-start.

The in-form Rodriguez added the fourth and the icing on the cake for Howe as he celebrated his 34th birthday was a first clean sheet at Turf Moor since March as Burnley headed onwards and upwards into mid-table.
Vokes had come back into the side in place of the suspended Ross Wallace and while the Clarets didn't exactly pick up immediately where they left off at Hull, they gradually eased their way into a game not helped initially by a violently swirling wind.
Ipswich, packing their side with experience in a bid to stop the rot, had plenty of the ball in the opening exchanges but the goal threat all came from Burnley once Rodriguez had fired the opening salvo with 16 minutes gone.
The striker's stinging drive from all of 35 yards had Arran Lee-Barrett at full stretch to make an excellent save and the goalkeeper was barely out of the action for the remainder of the first half on his first start of the season.

Lee-Barrett did well to tip over a header from Rodriguez following an excellent Kieran Trippier cross but when another Rodriguez effort was deflected wide for a corner, the keeper was beaten at the near post when Vokes headed in Keith Treacy's delivery.
Treacy then stung the palms of the keeper, who was scrambling moments later to grab the ball at the second attempt after parrying an effort from McCann.
And the second goal Burnley craved before the break came with just a minute to spare as their growing pressure paid off.
Junior Stanislas did well with a fine run into the Ipswich penalty area and when the winger delivered the perfect low cross, McCann arrived on cue to side-foot home his third goal of the season.

Stanislas was at it again seven minutes into the second half when Rodriguez released him for a run into the penalty area but this time the cross was just behind Treacy who couldn't hook the ball in from inside the six-yard box.
There was no letting up from the Clarets, though, as they continued to stretch the most porous defence in the Championship.
Vokes was a constant handful and from another of his knock-downs, Rodriguez produced a disappointing finish as he scuffed a shot tamely wide.
Rodriguez went closer with 65 minutes gone when he raced from his own half before firing just wide but just 60 seconds later it was 3-0 as McCann rammed home Burnley's superiority when running onto an excellent through-ball from Treacy to drill a shot past the advancing Lee-Barrett.

It was one-way traffic as the rampant Clarets exuded confidence and Vokes almost got his second from another peach of a cross from Trippier which the big striker volleyed over the top.
But the agony wasn't over for Ipswich as with 12 minutes to go Rodriguez got his now almost customary goal as Burnley finished in style.
The all-action striker had too much for the visitors all night and when he combined with Stanislas there was only one thing on his mind as he made space to drill a low left footer into the bottom corner from 20 yards to register his third goal in four games and a complete an excellent night's work for the rejuvenated Clarets.
