The Chicago Bears have a longstanding tradition of supporting numerous charities and assisting those in need. Bears Care was incorporated in 2005 as a 501 (c) 3 organization committed to improving the quality of life for people in the Chicagoland community, especially disadvantaged children and their families, through targeted programs supporting education, youth athletics, and medical research and health awareness programs focusing on breast and ovarian cancer. Since that time Bears Care has issued grants totaling over $7.5 million to over 70 qualifying agencies. If you are interested in making a donation, please make checks payable to Bears Care and mail to the address below:

Bears Care is in the process of identifying organizations as potential applicants for funding from proceeds of the 2011 campaign.  We want to hear from our fans and supporters about people and organizations making a difference in the lives of those battling breast cancer.  If you or someone you know has been positively impacted by a 501 (c) (3) organization in the Chicago area that provides care, assistance and support for breast cancer patients and their families, please share your story with us via email to bearscare@bears.nfl.com.
Take the Field
During 2011, Bears Care was proud to partner with The Pritzker Traubert Family Foundation to help construct new all-purpose artificial surface athletic fields at Jackson Park in the Woodlawn neighborhood and LaFollette Park in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held in late fall.
Back to School Fair
Bears Care arrived early to Bourbonnais and along with Catholic Charities – Diocese of Joliet and Team Smile, hosted the 2011 Back-to-School Fair on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University.  Over 1,000 deserving students from the Kankakee area attended along with their parents, and received a variety of free health services while enjoying a full day of fun. Families also had the opportunity to visit with over 30 social service organizations which offer support and resources to those facing challenging circumstances.

Team Smile is a not-for-profit organization that provides quality dental care to underserved populations while encouraging volunteerism within the dental community. Their enthusiastic group of volunteer dentists, hygienists and support staff provided free comprehensive dental treatment for nearly 300 children.  Guests also had access to vision screening, with Davis Vision and Visionworks providing vouchers for free comprehensive eye exams and eyeglasses to those identified as needing vision correction. Trendsetters kept their team of stylists busy all day providing haircuts, and kids had the opportunity to pick out new books to take home compliments of two area literacy-focused agencies. Guests of all ages were entertained by Staley Da Bear and danced to the music provided by DJ Kirby. Local merchants and the Chicago Bears donated great prizes including new bikes and autographed Bears items which were featured in a prize giveaway open to all attendees, and kids even had the opportunity to try on authentic Chicago Bears game equipment. Every child left the Fair with brand new school supplies for the upcoming school year and a healthy lunch including milk provided by Midwest Dairy Association.

Bears Care would like to thank the staff of Olivet Nazarene University for their assistance in helping make the Fair a great success again this year.  View the 2011 Back to School Fair photo gallery.
