EP, Film Clip, Black Forest Cake, etc.

13th June 2011:
The Triangles have finally put a new batch of songs together, which they're calling the Night Lunch EP... These songs were recorded in December last year, at Greg Heaton's Den Studios in Ferntree Gully, Melbourne. The band had a really great time recording the songs with Greg, and his studio was top notch. The band also made a film clip to accompany the song 'VP'... just for something different. Plus, things that we've been grooving to lately: Jai Paul, George Duke, Das Racist, Lightspeed Champion, Talk Talk.

Gigs in December!

14th October 2010:
See the main page. Triangles gigs in Melbourne this December. Might be the last ones for a while...

Album Releases

18th July 2010: Some new Triangles releases are on the way! In a few days time, Universal Music in Spain will be releasing "The Triangles", a rag-tag collection of pop songs previously released in Australia, but freshly re-mastered for Spanish enjoyment. If you're trying to find it in a Spanish record store, look for a green and yellow cover! Meanwhile, our lovely Australian label Half A Cow has set up a new distribution deal for our vintage-era album "Magic Johnson"... So that little ol' record (with a predominantly orange cover) may just turn up in your local JB Hi-Fi some time soon. Happy hunting.

In other news, some exciting developments are afoot. If you live down under, you might soon start hearing a certain familiar, Triangles-y song on your television during advertising breaks for MasterChef, or the footy, or whatever it is people are watching nowadays. And if you live in Spain (congrats on that whole World Cup thing, by the way), you might (might!) see us in a few months time, performing live at an urban centre near you... More details as they come to hand, naturally.

By the way, I'm not sure if any of you sexy folks ever got into this Dan Deacon fellow. But if you would like your day to improve instantaneously, check out this little gem.

YouTube Legends

26th June 2010: Hey, so... a bunch of cool folks have uploaded clips to YouTube using our song Applejack, from the Estrella Damm advert. Awesome! Some of the videos involve kids at school performing choreographed dances to the song, or lip-synching the words. Others involve people acting out skits. Others involve people doing their own piano renditions of the song. Way to go everyone! We really like the videos!!! Below are some links to a few of the clips we’ve found so far... enjoy!

Also, we’re going to be releasing an album in Spain. More details to follow soon...

Number One on iTunes. Crumbs!

4th June 2010: Err... it looks like The Triangles are #1 on the Spanish iTunes charts, with our song Applejack. Unbelievable! Thanks so much to all you lovely people in Spain who have been downloading our music. Hope it's putting a smile on your face(s).

New Blood

31st May 2010: So, after a while spent working on other projects, and generally idling, the Triangles have been sparked back into action. In May we travelled to Spain to appear in a commercial for Estrella Damm, featuring our one of our old favourite tracks Applejack. And in the wake of this, there are all sorts of possibilities now in view for the latter parts of 2010, including playing some shows in Spain, possibly in the UK as well (and quite likely playing at least one gig back home in Melbourne too)... and maybe also getting on with some new recordings that we’ve been working on for a while. We’re not exactly sure how this will all pan out, given that the band is currently facing geographical obstacles (the rhythm section is in the UK, the others in Melbourne), but we’ll sort something out!

In other news, have you heard the song ‘Moonshine’ by Dennis Wilson (one-time Beach Boys drummer, who tragically drowned in 1983)? It’s unreal.

Take care,

The Triangles.

About The Triangles
The Triangles are a five piece band from Melbourne Australia, who began playing together in 2003. They play indie-folk-pop-rock. After two independently-released collections of lo-fi tracks in 2003-04, The Triangles released two albums through Half a Cow Records in Australia and New Zealand: "Magic Johnson" in 2005, and "Seventy-Five Year Plan" in 2007. In 2010 The Triangles' song "Applejack" appeared in a major promotion for Estrella Damm beer in Spain. An eponymous compilation of The Triangles' songs was released through Universal Music in Spain, and "Applejack" spent a month atop the Spanish iTunes charts. "Magic Johnson was re-released in Australia in 2010, and The Triangles reconvened in Melbourne at the end of the year to record and play some gigs for the first time in yonks. People sometimes ask whether the band is named after the geometric shape or the percussive instrument.
