How is CES organised for REACH?

REACH is the regulation (EC) N° 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The Regulation replaces more than 40 existing pieces of legislation and presents some of the most important changes to the EU's management of chemicals in 30 years.

A summary of REACH and of its implications can be found here.

CES members have contracted ReachCentrum SPRL, a REACH services provider, to manage a consortium called Reconsile and implement a REACH compliance strategy. Further information is available here.

Reconsile members have successfully registered 43 substances of greater than 1000 tons/year before the 30 November 2010 deadline and are now working on the remaining substances that must be registered in the next phases of REACH.
