Best Comic-Book Adaptation

2010 wasn't exactly overcrowded with memorable comic book adaptations. Even the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 didn't quite capture the allure of the original. Instead, Kick-Ass proved to be the little comic book film that could, despite its less-than-enthusiastic box office reception.

Like its four color inspiration, Kick-Ass asks a simple question: What if people in the real world decided to dress up like superheroes and fight crime? Dave Lizewski was far from the most effective costumed vigilante ever to appear on screen, but the story of his rise to fame as Kick-Ass is both brutally funny and lovably demented. Somehow the film adaptation was even more energized than the source material, which is no small feat considering Mark Millar penned the comic. And with the first issue of Millar's sequel already out in comic shops, it shouldn't be too long before Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl are back to clean up the streets once more. More »
