We are looking for a Senior Microsoft SQL DBA who will be defining the way the company conducts business in the way they use the Database. Your role will be to soon lead the Database Management Team in ensuring the database services support the business operations are provided in a timely / cost effective manner and are executed in accordance with database best practices and deliver against the SLA’s.

Responsibilities:

Management and leadership of the DB team members via training, developing, coaching and motivating the team members to meet all targets and KPI’s. Ensuring they have documented development plans and are effectively prioritising / co-ordinating their work. Develop and implement the DB management strategies and capacity plans to ensure business and technology demand can be met and achieves service level and financial targets. Develop and implement policy and process to ensure the security of the database including the regular reviews, addressing of issues and escalation. Provide quality assurance in relation to the documentation of DB management operating procedures and updating of the knowledge base library to ensure that knowledge is shared and retained and that employees use systems with competence. Lead and facilitate the resolution of the Database related incidents, problems and service requests in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to the business and operations. Develop, implement and review daily administration processes ensuring effective execution of routine database backups, monitoring of databases and validation of disaster recovery plans that are regularly tested and reviewed. Develop, implement and review test plans and methodologies for database ensuring accuracy and validity, perform regular reviews and facilitates process improvement, building a library of test plans and reference material. Lead and facilitate process and service improvements within the database management function to improve function and service performance.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Strong SQL Server experience Teradata experience a nice to have Experience building and maintaining databases in a multiplatform environment (Windows, Unix/Linux environment) Monitoring and managing service thresholds Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams with a strong focus on delivery in a rapidly changing environment Leading and mentoring a team
