Family farewell video for Matt

Tags: funeral, matt golinski, recording

A VIDEO recording will be made of the funeral of Rachael Golinski and her three daughters so husband and father Matt can watch the farewell when he is ready.

Live butterflies will be released inside the chapel where 10-year-old Starlia and 12-year-olds Willow and Sage will be farewelled with their mum tomorrow.

All will be cremated in white caskets, which will be placed in a star or cross formation and linked with flowers, silk butterflies and ivy at the funeral.

Final touches will be made today for the private funeral for Rachael and her daughters, 12 weeks after the Boxing Day fire that claimed their lives and left Matt fighting for his life.

Celebrity chef Matt recently woke from a coma and gave the heartbreaking approval last week to allow the funeral for his wife and daughters to proceed without him there.

He suffered third-degree burns to 40% of his body in the fire that claimed his family and has been recovering in the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Special videos and photos taken tomorrow will be compiled for Matt.

Butterflies will be a predominant feature in the funeral to symbolise the free-spirited nature of Rachael and her daughters.

The three young Golinski girls were known for their love of "all things with wings" including fairies, angels, dragonflies and butterflies.

Each of the white caskets will be draped with roses and flowers in the favourite colours of Rachael and her girls.

Rachael and Willow will both have pink while Starlia's will be covered in gold and Sage's in her favourite colour, purple.

White doves will be released outside the chapel to symbolise eternal peace, love and healing.

A statement from the family yesterday said Matt still faced further treatment for his burns.

"He will have his own farewell when he is well enough to do so," the statement said.

Music will be played in the chapel during the public farewell from 10am to 1pm.

The sounds of traditional singing bowls will symbolise reflection, meditation and peace.

The chapel will be closed for the private service from 1.30-3pm.

A private cremation will follow.
