Democracy Triggers Congressional Hearing

Jamie Metzl’s article for our spring issue, “Brave New World War”, has compelled the House Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade to host a hearing on the subject of genetic modification. The subcommittee is chaired by Brad Sherman (D-CA) and is under the Foreign Affairs Committee. The hearing is open to the public.

Subject: “Genetics and other Human Modification Technologies: Sensible International Regulation or a New Kind of Arms Race?”

Date: Thursday, June 19, 2008

Time: 10 AM

Location: Room 2200 of the Rayburn House Office Building

You can read Metzl’s article for us here. In our most recent issue, genetics expert Henry Greely responded to Metzl’s piece.
