A major step forward is taken in continuing the legacy of Red Skelton.

The comedian, TV pioneer and former Vincennes resident will live on through a multi-million dollar museum.

The planned museum, located on the Vincennes University campus, will be connected to the current Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.

During a ceremony on Monday Lawrenceville Illinois residents Frank and Julia Ladner were honored for their generous donation of one million dollars.

That money kicks off the official fundraising campaign.

"Julia and I are always happy to participate in things that are worthwhile in the community and we are very proud of Vincennes University and all the things they do, so it was a natural thing to do," Ladner said.

The Red Skelton Foundation aims to raise 4 million dollars to open the museum.
