Boise is diagnosed with a non-fatal "Virus" at 99.1

All the carefully mapped-out stunting on Impact Radio Group’s KQLZ resulted in a new alternative format named “The Virus.” But Impact Director of Programming Mikey Fuentes and consultant Radiocrunch led the market on a wild goose chase, especially for three hours on Friday, when the new permanent format appeared to be country “Bronco.” KQLZ even had jocks for Bronco, tickets to see Darius Rucker in concert, and ads on eight electronic billboards around the metro. But the real destination was alternative rock, and market manager Darrell Calton says they’re excited to “bring alternative music back to the market.” Over the last 2-½ years, KQLZ has been CHR, talk and most recently oldies. The Idaho Board of Radio-Info is here.
