Life peer and distinguished supporter of Humanism

Tristan Garel-Jones was born in 1941 and educated at King’s School Canterbury. After a distinguished career in politics as Conservative MP for Watford (1979 – 97), a Government whip and a Minister of State for Europe (1990 – 93), he was made a life peer in 1997. He is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Humanist Group.
