A Markham family is preserving the memory of murder victim Alicia Ross with an Internet site that allows people to grieve and share their thoughts.
The website, www.aliciaross.ca, was launched this week and includes a gallery of family snapshots, thoughts from friends, and a bulletin board for visitors to leave messages.
Sharon Fortis, the victim's mother, said the family wants people to enjoy the pictures and messages. Fortis said she is amazed by the feedback already received from the website.
Ross went missing from her home in Aug. 2005.
Police launched a search with the help of hundreds of volunteers. A month later the family's fears were confirmed when Ross' body was found.
Investigators laid second-degree murder charges against the family's neighbour Daniel Sylvester after he surrendered to police.
Sylvester made a brief video court appearance on Thursday. He has been remanded into custody. The accused will be back in court again on Feb. 22.
