Ellie Greenwich
Ellie
Greenwich,
one of the premier songwriters of all time, has written and produced songs which
have sold in the millions. Many of her songs - performed by
various artists - have gone gold and platinum.
Her career began, while in her early teens, in her hometown of Levittown, New York, and her musical success culminated when she starred on Broadway in the Ellie Greenwich Musical, "Leader Of The Pack", and with her induction into "The Songwriters Hall Of Fame" in May of 1991. Additionally, Women In Music presented her with their "Touchstone Award" in 1998, and on November 27, 2000, Ellie was included in Newsday's "Long Islander Of The Century" series.
She has traveled extensively, both in promoting her own albums and in social
endeavors.
Ellie has had considerable success as a lead singer, background singer, writer
and vocal arranger on many hit records and commercial jingles, and is the
recipient of numerous industry and civic awards.
She has been working on several television projects as well as an original
Broadway Musical and developing a new children's show.
Ellie also had the Number One Record on both the Dance and Pop Charts in England and Australia in 1997 with "The Sunshine After The Rain."
In February, 2003, the Australian press, selected Ellie's composition, "River Deep, Mountain High" as number nine on a list of the 100 greatest songs - ever.
In March 2003, four episodes of Fox TV's "Boston Public" will feature "Leader Of The Pack as the school's musical production.
And,
Let us not forget the book!
The
following is a partial listing of her achievements:
