BANGKOK, 23 March 2012: Tourism Authority of Thailand is hosting a Miracle Year of Amazing Thailand 2012 29 March to 1 April at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.

The agency said the event will have the theme “Seven Miracles of Thailand” showcasing Thai cultural heritages and tourism products.

The four-day event is a response to the government’s policy that declared Miracle Thailand Year for celebrations linked to His Majesty the King’s 84th’s birthday and other royal activities up until HM the Queen’s 80th birthday in August this year.

“Miracle Year of Amazing Thailand 2012 will present heritage ……Thai food, local festivals and lifestyles through a show,” said TAT marketing communication deputy governor, Prakit Piriyakiet.

The seven Miracles are linked to: Thai Monarchy; Thainess; Thai Heritage; Arts, Culture and Traditions; Nature; Health and Wellness and Thai Cuisine.

Each sub-theme will be displayed through exhibits and performances for visitors during the four-day event.

Mr Prakit told TTR Weekly that TAT wants to showcase only the quality and outstanding products that reflect Thainess.

“TAT has invited only tourism products and services that reflect what we call “Thainess” as the main purpose of the event apart from celebrating special Royal occasions is to build awareness,” he said.

The pavilion of the Miracle of Thai Monarchy will feature royal projects on a giant LED monitor.

TAT will also support four associations (Thai Tourism Promotion Association, The Association of Domestic Travel, The Association of Thai Tour Operators and The Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association) to sell packages focusing on specific routes. They are:

• Sukhothai – Si Satchanalai – Kamphaeng Phet Route (12 to 14 April);

• Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Kanchanaburi – Nakhon Pathom Route (15 to 17 April);

• Na Haeo district, Loei Province Route (13 to 15 April);

• Trat Province, Thailand – Kong Island, Cambodia Route (13 to 15 April);

• Bangkok – Nakhon Si Thammarat Route (13 to 15 Aptil).

Mr Prakit expects around 200,000 visitors will join the event.

According to TAT data, Thailand welcomed 19.1 million international visitors, last year, up 19.84% compared to 2010. During January, there were 1.94 million international visitor arrivals, up 7.65% compared to the same period in 2011.

    Whatever we do to promote tourism should be in both Thai and English so it is understood worldwide in the world of no borders.

    First, define “Thainess”.

    Second, why is the mymiraclethai.com only in the Thai language?

      in my humble opinion, it is because of some description on the page, that said “The campaign “My Miracle Thailand” urges Thai people to present the amazing tourist attractions or an awesome locations in Thailand where you (Thais) want to show the world through Google Street View.” That’s why its words are Thai, by the way, (I think) when this project is ready to launch, it will be in English version. =)
