D.C. United vs. FC Dallas

Greetings from RFK Stadium. Cool, gray afternoon/evening along the banks of the mighty Anacostia for tonight’s MLS match between D.C. United and FC Dallas.

I’ve been known to grumble about the field when it's in rough shape, so only fair to praise the groundskeeping crew and share a photo of the emerald pitch.

While wandering the upper reaches, I also snapped this photo from inside the stadium facing the back of the giant Dwayne De Rosario banner above Gate A. DeRo is watching you!

Good news on the TV front: The April 18 home match against the Montreal Impact has been added to the Comcast SportsNet Plus schedule.

United absences tonight: MF Marcelo Saragosa (family medical issue in Brazil), MF Andy Najar (Honduras U-23 duty) and GK Bill Hamid (sprained ankle). I don’t expect D Dejan Jakovic (groin) to play.

United is also awaiting the arrival of English MF Lewis Neal. His work visa is pending — a brighter outlook than Luke Rodgers’ situation with his now former MLS club, the New York Red Bulls.

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET. (Actually, closer to 7:50 because of TV.)

TV: NBC Sports Network (channel finder here).

I’ll have the lineups around 6:30.....

DCU: Willis; Russell, Dudar, McDonald, Woolard; Cruz, Kitchen, De Rosario, DeLeon; Salihi, Santos. Subs: Wolff, Pontius, Boskovic, King, Korb, Morsink, Dykstra.

DAL: Hartman; Loyd, Pertuz, Ihemelu, Benitez; Rodriguez, Villar, Hernandez, Jacobson; Perez. Subs: Seitz, Hedges, Warshaw, Guarda, Leyva, Perea, Wiedeman.

Your pregame, in-game and postgame thoughts are welcome in our comments section. Good luck with Mega Millions lottery tonight.

Liverpool, Tottenham to play in Baltimore

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, two of the English Premier League’s marquee clubs, will meet in a July 28 friendly at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore — the same day league rival Chelsea is tentatively scheduled to face Italian titan AC Milan 32 miles away at FedEx Field in Landover and the same weekend as a possible D.C. United friendly.

The Baltimore match will kick off at 1 p.m., an early start because the Orioles host the Oakland Athletics that evening at the adjacent baseball park at Camden Yards. Tickets for the soccer event will go on sale Tuesday through Ticketmaster and the Baltimore Ravens.

Friday kickaround: D.C. United vs. FC Dallas, NBC Sports Network, Dwayne De Rosario, Brek Shea, DCU friendlies, UEFA Europa League, Americans abroad

*Heading into tonight’s match against FC Dallas, D.C. United believes it has begun to turn a corner after an encouraging performance last weekend.

*Here’s the page image of the United spread in the print edition.

*Game-time weather at RFK Stadium: low 50s with a 40 percent chance of light rain.

*Tonight’s match marks United’s debut on NBC Sports Network (formerly known as Versus). Arlo White and Kyle Martino have the match commentary. Russ Thaler, a former Comcast SportsNet/DC ace who hosts “NBC SportsTalk,”will handle the pregame, halftime and postgame segments.

*The last time United won at RFK? Sept. 24 against Real Salt Lake. Dwayne De Rosario had three goals and an assist. (My match account from that memorable night.)
