TEODACS

Test, Evaluation and Optimization of Dependable Automotive Communication Systems (E03_T01)

Duration: 01.03.2008 - 31.12.2009

Project Description

The aim of the TEODACS research project is to gather expertise for the deployment and validation of FlexRay based distributed systems. The novelty aspect of our project is the analysis of the communication services as an assembled component and the exploration of the interactions between the layers thereof.

A main advantage of our approach is to combine the different expertise domains from our partners for the heterogeneous testing and evaluation of the system as a whole. An important goal is the analysis of the internal (e.g. configuration) and external (e.g. fault model) mechanisms influencing the communication and the efficient and realistic modelling of these effects within the simulator and the laboratory setup.

Main outputs of this project are the FlexRayXpert.Sim simulation framework, the FlexRayXpert.Lab laboratory setup and the FlexRayXpert.Research research activities comprising the elaboration of new concepts and methods for the test, evaluation and optimization of FlexRay networks.

Project Aim

FlexRayXpert.Sim
The vision is to combine the simulation environment of AVL (InMotion Office) with SyAD from CISC to obtain a simulator for the entire system at different abstraction levels (car environment, car functions down to communication at the physical layer and analog waveform).

FlexRayXpert.Lab
Parallel to that, we want to develop a prototype stimulated by the AVL InMotion Lab to evaluate the communication architecture and validate our simulation model. An important challenge is the definition of interfaces to support information exchange between simulation and prototype.

FlexRayXpert.Research
The experience gained during the development of the simulation model and of the prototype will be further used to develop new concepts and methods for the efficient test, evaluation and optimization of automotive communication systems. For more information please contact teodacs(at)v2c2.at
