Section: CAPITAL REGION,  Page: B4

ALBANY -- Got a site in mind for Albany's proposed downtown convention center? The mayor's task force wants to hear all about it.

Mayor Jerry Jennings announced Tuesday that the Albany Convention Center Task Force has put together a ``Request for Expressions of Interest,'' for individuals and organizations to identify sites to be considered for a convention center and hotel complex. Responses, due March 15, must include conceptual development plans and estimated development costs. Copies of the request informational packet are available from the Albany Local Development Corp. office at 21 Lodge St.

The task force is charged with selecting a preferred location for a 210,000-square-foot convention center attached to a 400-room headquarters hotel and constructing a financing plan.

A feasibility study completed in December concluded that a downtown center and hotel could attract about 270,000 people a year to more than 300 events, and generate at least $75 million in hotel, retail and other economic activity. -- Cathy Woodruff
