#038 Ninetails
Pokédex Info
Type 1: Fire
Type 2: -
Height: 3' 07"
Weight: 44.0 lb
According to an enduring legend, nine noble saints were united and reincarnated as this Pokémon.
Catch it in:

Evolved from: Vulpix Evolves into: -
Locations: You need a Fire Stone to evolve a Vulpix into Ninetales.
This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques:
LV 01 - Ember LV 01 - Tail Whip -
Tips: Ninetales is one of the most visually impressive Pokemon. This nine-tailed fire fox can be a tough enemy to beat due to its high Special, Speed and HP stats. To get the best possible Ninetales, evolve your Vulpix at Level 42 (or later), so it will know Flamethrower and Fire Spin, one of the few multi-turn "lock-down" techniques (your enemy cannot retaliate while the attack lasts).

Like all Fire Pokemon, Ninetales is weak against Water, Ground and Rock types and attacks. But send it out against a Grass, Ice or Bug type and it will cause some serious havoc. Like Vulpix, Ninetales can also learn Dig and Toxic, techniques that can help make it a very versatile attacker.

This Pokémon can learn the following HMs and TMs:
TM 06 - Toxic
TM 08 - Body Slam
TM 09 - Take Down
TM 10 - Double Edge
TM 15 - Hyper Beam
TM 20 - Rage
TM 28 - Dig
TM 31 - Mimic
TM 32 - Double Team
TM 33 - Reflect
TM 34 - Bide
TM 38 - Fire Blast
TM 39 - Swift
TM 40 - Skull Bash
TM 44 - Rest
TM 50 - Substitute

Offense

Disadvantage: Fire, Water, Rock, Dragon
Defense
Advantage:
Fire, Grass, Bug
Disadvantage: Water, Ground, Rock
Origin: While the name Ninetales is self-explanatory (it comes from "nine tails", of course), there is actually a little more to tell about this creature's origin. The Pokemon artists at the Japanese design studio Creatures didn't actually make Ninetales up from scratch. The figure of shape-shifting, nine-tailed foxes actually appears in several Japanese fairy tales (hey look, it's that word again) and has been a part of the country's mythology for hundreds of years.
