— A man is in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a car this afternoon near the intersection of Big Blue Trace and Wellington Trace, authorities said.

The motorcycle collided with a Nissan Sentra at 2:57 p.m. The man was flown via Trauma Hawk to the Delray Medical Center, Palm Beach Fire-Rescue spokesman, Capt. Don DeLucia said.

The accident is caused lengthy traffic delays near the scene, but the roads are now open again, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said .

Something need to be done about this specific intersection. It is the scene of too many accidents some of them are even fatal.
45mph, soccer moms on phones and teens equal disaster. That entire secton of wellington trace from Big Blue to Greenview shores is a nightmare too much traffic too little patience too many speeders too long back ups at the lights...poor planning...very poor taffic lay out for the entire section of the town...way too much housing for the roads.
Most drivers are not looking for motorcycles and often miss them because they have trained themselves to only look for cars. Also many drivers are distracted by talking or texting on their cell phones. I have been a paramedic for 30 years and have seen many accidents. I have found that many accidents could be avoided if people would only use their cell phones when it is absolutly necessary. Even then the phone calls should be short and to the point.
Maybe DRIVERS should be more accountable for their poor driving habits. Seems to me that drivers, people in general, don't want the responsibility for their actions nor do they want the consequences, unless it happens to one of them or their loved ones. I can't sit at any one intersection in south Florida without seeing at least 2 bad examples of carelessness, thoughtlessness, and just flat out inconsideration for anyone but themselves.
I live just off Wellington Trace between Big Blue and Forest Hill Blvd. There is only one light between Greenview Shores and Forest Hill. This area is often used as a speedway where some use it as a place to "let it out" with their autos and motorcycles. We need to lower the speed limit there and enforce it. We could take a lesson from Royal Palm Beach along Crestwood. That speed limit is strickly enforced. If you see someone speeding there you know they are new to the area. Pls. no more tears
In the 17 years I have lived in Wellington this is one of the worst intersections here. How many more people have to die or get seriously injured before the speed limits are reduced.Too many people are distracted with talking on phones, texting ,eating, running red lights.Sure alot of people wouldn't be happy with 35mph speed limits but it will save lives and maybe people will drive more cautious and you will still get to where your going.
There is confusion about the report. The Trauma Hawk took off from the scene and landed at Palms West Hospital. The person was taken out of the helicopter and put in an ambulance which sat there for awhile. It did not fly to Delray as far as I could tell. Anyone know more about this accident?

Everyone is correct: this intersection is terrible and Big Blue is a raceway. Something needs to be done.
I don't understand why more wasn't written about this accident. I searched for days in the post. Finally found this article online. Any more info on this?

Praying for the motorcyclist...there are a lot of people praying for him ....he has many friends who are worried about him and are hoping everything turns out ok. God is watching over you, KP.
