For many Americans, retirement security has become a moving target. They’re living longer, which means their nest eggs must last longer. They’re seeing that expenses often go up in retirement rather than down, especially healthcare expenses. Traditional pension plans, once a bedrock source of retirement income for many, continue to disappear, while volatile financial markets test the seaworthiness of self-directed retirement savings plans.
