Fans of the series who want to go into the game fresh should tread carefully as the video casually drops more than few plot bombshells and shows off a few cool areas that are also important to the story.

If you're not concerned about that then there are plenty of epic battles and visually stunning set pieces on show here too. Enjoy:

Earlier today Square Enix detailed plans to rebuild Final Fantasy XIV and launch it on PS3.

It's been a while since the series has had a genuinely cool antagonist like Kiais, I'm looking forward to this. Though I think he'll probably fade out halfway through to make way for the "real" threat. Hopefully his role will be (much) larger than what Cid, Jhil, and that other guy's roles ended up being in XIII.

Oh, and I really wish S-E would stop getting vocal songs for these trailers, the actual game music will be absolutely brilliant (XIII was, and the first two thirds of the trailer showed this as well) it just comes across as lame and lessens the impact of the trailer, music has a significant effect on atmosphere and mood, that vocal theme creates a very cheesy mood when a good strong dramatic theme would've been so much more fitting.

I wasn't really bothered about this one but i've started playing FFXIII again from the start and i'm quite enjoying it, Still looks absolutely gorgeous too. Lightning really is amoody cow though.

I enjoyed the story and characters from XIII so hopefully they manage to make this one as compelling, I really dislike the combat system though I hope they overhaul it for the next full-fledged entry in the series.
