Secular extremism's perversion of the Constitution must be undone
By Michael Gaynor

America's Founders created a federal government that looked favorably on religious belief and private property, viewed them as good and necessary, and protected and encouraged them. People whose consciences dictate otherwise should never be forced to personally engage in religious expression. But neither should fear of offending their sensibilities prevent others from publicly expressing their faith. The nonreligious minority should not be permitted to impose their nonreligion on the religious majority or to replace the secular moderation envisioned by the Founders with the kind of secular extremism that would ban Ten Commandments displays in courthouses, Thanksgiving and Christmas as national holidays, "under God" from "The Pledge of Allegiance," voluntary nondenominational prayer from public schools, creches from winter holiday displays on public property, "In God We Trust" from America's currency and Congressional and military chaplains,

Satan is the Father of Lies. And the political godfather of the secular extremists, the vast majority of whom are pro-death Democrats. The election of President Bush in 2000 was a great setback for secular extremism. since President Bush was unashamedly a man of faith and public pledged to appointing strict constructionists to America's federal courts. Fortunately for the secular extremists, there were no Supreme Court vacancies during President Bush's first term. So their obstructionism was no made quite as big a deal as it should have been. But it was a big enough deal that the Senate's leading obstructionist, Minority Leader Tom Daschle, to be defeated in his race for re-election. And their obstructionism blocked the confirmation of a number of highly qualified judicial nominees to federal appellate courts.

In 2004, President Bush was re-elected, Senator Daschle was rejected and, on the wisdom of continued filibustering of judicial nominees, the diminished Senate Democrat contingent reflected. A deal was cut, to avoid the exercise of the constitutional option. The Constitution provides for confirmation by a simple majority, not a supermajority. But the Dems lied. They deliberately deceived the American people, claiming that their obstructionism was what the Founders provided for, and calling the constitutional option "the nuclear option," as though doing what the Constitution specifically prescribes would wreak death and destruction like a nuclear bomb. The Father of Lies must have been proud.

Hitler killed perhaps 10,000,000 human beings before his concentration camps were put out of business. America's abortion mills have terminated about 45,000,000 pregnancies since Roe v. Wade made it "legal." And they want their lucrative business to continue, of course.

The re-election of President Bush with increased Republican majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives horrified the secular extremists, who have kept those abortion mills humming, much like Hitler kept the gas chambers and crematoria in his concentration camps operating as much and as long as possible.

What would the secular extremists do to keep their judicial coup from being undone after President Bush appointed enough pro-life Supreme Court Justices?

They would try to force President Bush NOT to appoint them. By transforming his public personna from that of a righteous man to that of a shameless liar and warmonger who deceived the American people for the sheer pleasure of leading the liberation of Iraq and perhaps for the sake of "Big Oil." By treating his effort to reduce America's dependency on foreign oil by drilling in a tiny part of ANWAR as proof that he wants to destroy the environment. By blocking his effort to reform Social Security and to secure it for America's young people and future generations as well as America's current seniors, since he is a Republican, FDR was a Democrat and Democrats will not permit a Republican to improve upon what was created under FDR. And by jumping on every opportunity to question President Bush's fundamental decency, personal integrity and concern for the welfare of all Americans.

It's been working. Nearly six out of ten Americans now think President Bush cannot be trusted, according to recent polls. Largely because President Bush foolishly chose not to dignify the charges instead of damning the chargers. But, President Bush has been continuing to nominate strict constructionists whenever a judicial vacancy occurs. He has appointed Chief Justice John Roberts to replace the late Chief Justice Rehnquist (a strict constructionist for a strict constructionist) and nominated Judge Samuel A, Alito, Jr. to replace Justice O'Connor (a strict constructionist for an unstrict one). Judge Alito looks confirmable, and Justice Stevens, a secular extremist, may be nearing the end of his Supreme Court life. If President Bush replaces him with a strict constructionist, secular extremists probably will find that the Supremes replace their secular extremist attitude with a religion-friendly, private property-friendly one.

As soon as the opportunity is presented, a strict construction Supreme majority will recognize and return to the Constitution the Founders intended. Government will be free to acknowledge God and support religious belief generally, while always respecting the private right of conscience of individual Americans and never establishing an official religion. Private property will be respected, instead of put at risk of taking for a private purpose masquerading as a public one. And each state will set its own policy with respect to abortion. The so-called constitutional right to abortion being judicially created, by a de facto constitutional amendment adopted solely by presumptuous judicial activists, because a legitimate amendment to the same effect was not politically possible.
