Coroner: Infant’s mauling caused by “parental neglect”

Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet has released the cause of death in Friday’s dog attack of a two-month-old infant in Ridgeville, listing it as a homicide.

The cause of death is listed as “exsanguination (to drain of blood)…due to transection of blood vessels…due to animal eating….due to parental neglect.”

2-month-old Aiden McGrew was found to have been bitten several times and dismembered as he sat in a swing in his room. The mother was not home, but the father was– though he was asleep.

There is no word as to whether any charges will be filed. Dorchester County Sheriff L.C. Knight says the case is still under investigation. No word yet on what will happen to the dog that attacked the infant.
