Dinklage refuses to play the stock characters usually reserved for dwarves, but often his roles work off of those stereotypes. In “Elf” (2003), Dinklage played a temperamental, very wealthy writer who attacks Buddy (Will Ferrell) after repeatedly being called an elf.
Asked if he’ll ever be a spokesman for the rights of little people, Dinklage is hesitant: “I can’t preach how to be O.K. with it. I don’t think I still am O.K. with it. There’s days when I’m not.”
