Ford Motor Co. is a global automotive industry, which manufactures or distributes automobiles across six continents. It produces cars and trucks. The company through its subsidiaries also engages in other businesses, including financing vehicles. Its automotive brands include Ford and Lincoln. The company operates through two business sectors: Automotive and Financial Services. The Automotive sector operates through four business segments: Ford North America, Ford South America, Ford Europe and Ford Asia Pacific Africa. The Ford North America segment is engaged in the sale of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brand vehicles and related service parts and accessories in North America. The Ford South America segment is engaged in the sale of Ford-brand vehicles and related service parts and accessories in South America. The Ford Europe segment is engaged in the sale of Ford-brand vehicles and related service parts and accessories in Europe, including all parts of Turkey and Russia. The Ford Asia Pacific Africa segment includes primarily the sale of Ford-brand vehicles and related service parts and accessories in the Asia Pacific region and South Africa. The Financial Services sector operates through two segments: Ford Credit and Other Financial Services. The Ford Credit segment provides vehicle-related financing, leasing, and insurance through the company's wholly owned subsidiary Ford Motor Credit Co. LLC. Ford Motor Credit offers a wide variety of automotive financing products through automotive dealers throughout the world. Its portfolio of finance receivables and leases are classified into two segments: Consumer and Non-Consumer. The Consumer segment's finance receivables and leases relates to products offered to individuals and to businesses that finance the acquisition of vehicles from dealers for personal and commercial use. This segment's products include retail installment sale contracts for new and used vehicles, and leases for new vehicles to retail customers, government entities, daily rental car companies, and fleet customers. The Non-Consumer segment's finance receivables and leases relate primarily to products offered to automotive dealers, including loans to finance the purchase of vehicle inventory, for improvements to dealership facilities, for working capital, and for purchase of dealership real estate. Ford Credit also purchases receivables generated by the company and its subsidiaries, primarily in connection with the sale of parts and accessories. The Other Financial Services segment includes a variety of businesses, including holding companies, real estate, and the financing and leasing of some Volvo vehicles in Europe. Ford Motor was founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903 and is headquartered in Dearborn, MI.
