Happiest of New Years!
Tomorrow begins year XLVI, Anno Satanas.
Dr. LaVey would certainly share my pride in the membership of our mighty cabal as we reach the mid-point of the third “Working Year” in the evolutionary history of the Church of Satan. We expect, as he predicted, an intensification of the current which is bringing our philosophy global recognition as a valid approach amongst other free-thought-based human potential paradigms. We still make many who might be fellow-travelers uncomfortable with our Third Side syntheses of radical concepts and our eschewing of any Good Guy Badges. But we must condemn the madness of theism in all its forms, regardless of those wanting to make peace with that societal cancer. Such poison must go, else human advancement will be throttled before the potential that burgeoning technologies offer can be realized. We make our own destinies, and if the stars are to be ours, devotion to deities must be left in the playpen of primitive societies and those who cling to that delusion must be outlawed from participation in civilization global and beyond—if we desire as a species to make it that far.
We have seen some extraordinary growth from the seeds planted during our prior year of clearing and replanting, and so many of the members we know personally have attained success based on wielding their talents. While the economy of the world is still in shambles, our people surf those waves of opportunity and prepare for the upswing that will propel them even more swiftly towards their well-chosen personal goals.
As always, I am impressed with the caliber of the diverse women and men who continue to affiliate—productive individuals who identify with Satanism pridefully, using it as fuel for personal campaigns towards glory. Some master arcane technologies and use them for maintaining freedom in the face of upsurging tyrannies. Others embrace old or new art forms and make unique contributions, creating Satanic avatars of inspiration that will stand as sentinels for fellow diabolists for centuries to come. Still others collect, codify, and offer wisdom from past thinkers, prior infernal iconoclasts who blazed the trail that we continue to follow. Now, our dark fellows pave new highways that lead to a future where liberty and pride will be saluted as the proper heritage of those who are truly alive, the proper heirs of mankind.
That we can do so not in lock-step, or some forced brotherhood, but as separate pioneers lends us strength—and mystery. There are thus many applications of Satanism. Each of us gains comfort that others of like-mind, but varied means, also are out there, leveraging trends, cultivating memes, and prodding Fortuna while enjoying the present in all of its myriad pleasures, each in our own fashion. Our power lies in this plurality, and in our passionate love of life. For Satanists, mind and body are not conflicted, but united in mutual deification.
And so we raise our glasses to our Comrades in Darkness in celebration of the advent of a New Year of continued growth with an expected harvest that will astound us with a fecundity of terrible splendor:

As has become our tradition, we invite you to click on the image above to embrace the “Old Gent’s” evocation of this primordial holiday, the name of which has been usurped by that late-coming pallid Nazarene.
Today we mark the seasonal change and revive the indulgent feasting of the ancient pagan Roman Saturnalia; as the song says, “Give me that old-time religion!”
We note that there is a very rare occurance of a total lunar eclipse during the early morning hours of the solstice day. This darkening of the moon should also make it easier to view the seasonal Ursid meteor shower. Satanists delight in the knowledge that even though we can view such an unusual event in our skies on this pivot-point of the year, we know that far rarer are the confluence of events that brought each of our unique consciousnesses here to view the darkness of the moon on one of the longest nights of the year. So, we celebrate ourselves as is most appropriate for our philosophy of self-deification!

A “Happy Halloween!” to true Satanists the world over.
Magus Gilmore’s perspective concerning this holiday has become a tradition for our site:
Tonight is the night when the mundane folk try to reach down inside and touch the darkness—which for we Satanists is a daily mode of existence. Particularly in the United States, Halloween is a time for celebrating “monster films,” wearing costumes of a macabre nature, and evoking the thrill of “fun fear.” Children of all ages can indulge their fantasies by donning garb that allows for intense role playing and the release of those demonic cores, oft-hidden in the oubliettes of their psyches.
Though there are traditions which make this an occasion for recalling the dead, it has been popularized as a time to play with what historically were fears directed towards the unquiet spirits of the departed. And the grand traditional question “Trick or treat?” has become a means for fulfilling an indulgence in sweets, without the need to resort to the optional coercion. We embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, Satanists smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” So on this eve of magic and mystery, we encourage their tenebrous fantasies, the candied indulgence, and the wide-ranging evocation of our aesthetics (while tolerating some of the chintzy versions), even if it is but once per annum. At other times of the year, when those not of our tribe shake their heads in wonder at us, we can point out that they may find some understanding by examining their own All Hallows Eve doings, as an alternative to our recent favored saying: “We’re just part of the Addams clan.”
So, have an indulgent, mysterious, and deeply satisfying Samhain!

When we have each other we have everything
In his latest installation, Leonardo Casas returns to some of his art-recurrent subjects: The visual language of extreme love and uncanny affection through social alienation and failed promises.
This time his focus is on some greatest moments of affection and devotion that exploded throughout the late 60s – 70s and early 80s. The artist evokes some of those moments (usually involving crime, murder, psychedelic environments and extreme political actions) creating a wall installation displaying 25 new paintings.
Paradigmatic cases involving scenes featuring the Red Brigades’ Mara Cagol murder, the Black Brigades’ unresolved terrorist actions that ended in the Bologna disaster on august 2nd in 1980, The Process Church of the Final Judgement effigies, The Manson Family trials, Black Masses and neglected 80s Chilean sweethearts are among others portrayed in a series of acrylic paintings on fabric. For this new series Casas used photos which appeared on newspapers and magazines from that period.
The installation will displayed within the project “Jardin de las Delicias” (Garden of Delights) curated by the Balmaceda Arte Joven Gallery from Santiago de Chile from august 5TH through September 2nd.
Leonardo Casas has been displayed his art at Museums and Galleries from the Santiago de Chile area, as well as 313 CBGB’s, Gallery (New York), the Dirty Show (Detroit), La Dependance (Zurich, Switzerland) and the Locanda Atlantide (Rome, Italy) He is the current director and curator of the Babylon Projects website.

Author/Musician JOEL GAUSTEN Invades "Metal Invaders" Podcast; Audio Available
Author and veteran drummer Joel Gausten (Pigface / Effectionhate / Electric Frankenstein) is the special guest on the latest installment of the "Metal Invaders" podcast on Radio Free Satan. During the special 90-minute episode, show host Sonny Bellavance welcomes Gausten for a discussion of his latest book, "Satan to Sabbath: The METAL Interviews 2000-2009," as well as his extensive music career. Additionally, Gausten is invited to select the episode's playlist, which includes tracks by Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Effectionhate, Pigface, Napalm Death, Non-Fiction, The Plasmatics, Prong, Celtic Frost and Benediction.

Both Gausten and Bellavance will be featured on the upcoming debut album by Effectionhate, an electronic music project created by artist and multi-instrumentalist Shannon Gardner-Gausten in 2007. Experimental in nature, Effectionhate's music ranges from techno to classical to atonal industrial noise, with the project's evolving list of contributors ensuring that no two compositions are alike. The album will also include an appearance by drummer Martin Atkins (Pigface, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Public Image Limited).

Had he lived to see his 80th anniversary of his birth, we are certain that his pride would have been truly beyond measure at the array of achievements, vast in scope and majesty, accomplished by those who have been inspired by his concepts towards living lives of vital creativity and Epicurean Indulgence.
We reflect on his extraordinary achievements today, from his writing, his music, and his imagery to that inimitable personal style that truly cast a boulder into a pond of a society brimming with mediocrity to create waves of glorious individuality, so dark, so Infernal, and with such piercing humor and insight that the spiritual world still has not recovered from his triumphant carnal assault.
We are his heirs and we bear his legacy with pride, celebrating ourselves as the gods we are, and also paying homage, as do sovereigns to each other, to the brilliant man who gave us so very much of his truly unique self.

CHRIS LEO is a writer and musician living in New York City. He is is the author of 4 books. The most notable being White Pigeons on Fifth Planet Press and Feathers Like Leather on Heartworm Press. RM O'BRIEN was born in Oswego, New York in 1983. He was awarded a BA in Liberal Studies from Purchase College only after he agreed to pay $50 to be registered in a "dummy" class. To date, O'Brien has self-publisht a small handful of poetic tracts which he leaves around wherever, and he curates the monthly reading series WORMS in Baltimore, Maryland, where he lives with a man, a woman, and a dog.

Babylon Projects is pleased to present Not Like Most: Women Artists Now, an exhibition of works by 10 artists: Stephanie Crabe, Verena Urrutia, Catalina Schliebener, Rachel Harrison, Gea*, Ignacia Mesa, V.K. Seven, Catalina Varas, Nancy Cila and Grace Weinrib.
The exhibition is a curatorial project developed by Babylon Projects (Andrea Leiton and Leonardo Casas) and displayed at the Biblioteca de Santiago.
Not Like Most… is a multidisciplinary show featuring photography, drawing, etching, paintings, mixed media, performance and music.
Not Like Most… is an only women artists show whose since its title functions as an allegory of individualism and the will for a productive perspective proposed since each artist’s milieu as well the exploration of each artist’s personal aesthetic interests and tastes and its potential projection to the immediate surroundings.
The artists featured in Not Like Most… explore through their very personal artistic visions subjects like love, failed utopias, indulgence, fear, lust, beauty and mystery.
For the first time the Santiago de Chile public will be able to see displayed at the show original artwork by Stephanie Crabe (a piece from the project Motel Bizarre),
New York illustrator Gea* (4 ink drawings on paper) and Hollywood designer V.K. Seven (2 color prints).
Babylon Projects started out on the last months of 2007 as a visual production and promotion platform intended for those artistic visions that develop beyond the constrictions of trendy aesthetics and the dictums of the cultural mainstream.

The Headliner — BABY DEE:
Baby Dee was born in Cleveland Ohio. Her father was a fire chief. She loved to play the piano as a child and began her "professional career" as a bear in Central Park playing the harp. She worked at the Coney Island Sideshow and toured with the Bindlestif Circus.She met Antony of "Antony and the Johnsons" and did shows and recorded the harp parts on that wonderful first album. Then she went back to Europe and traveled to Scotland where she met John Kamikaze — The Prince of Pain and benevolent despot of The Kamikaze Freak Show. Then something mysterious happened and she left everything (lots of very heavy and expensive things) in Ghent and came back to Cleveland Ohio where she became a tree climber. While in Cleveland she wrote songs and recorded two albums "Little Window" and "Loves Small Song." David Tibet befriended her and released them on his Durtro label.
Her latest full length studio work "A Book of Songs for Anne Marie" has been presented not as an album but as a book which comes with a CD.

Sabbat de Sade is an interactive play night wherein Karcus redefines kink by creating a total environment that engulfs the imagination of everyone in attendance with a well-selected theme. The main difference between his nights and most others before being that there is no focus on a planned or rehearsed stage show. Nothing is planned other than the night's theme-scape. Also, instead of focusing on the usual types of play associated with BDSM, he utilizes less conventional means for play such as: ridiculous "twister" games, cops and robbers (simulated arresting of attendees), Wheel of Torture (instead of going bankrupt, "black out" gets you abducted), Doctor/patient Nights (includes wheelchair races and real fiberglass casts) and Beyond.
The next upcoming theme is "Resurrection," a Zombie night featuring flesh hook suspensions and simulated tactical training for The Zombie Apocalypse - all in celebration of Sabbat de Sade's third birthday. This will take place Sunday, March 21, 2010. Please visit Sabbat de Sade's website for specifics.Naturally, this event is for adults only.

Effectionhate Frontwoman Interviewed on Radio Free Satan
Multi-instrumentalist Shannon Gardner-Gausten, frontwoman of the experimental industrial project Effectionhate, is the featured subject of the latest episode of the "HeArtist’s Darkest Ends" program on Radio Free Satan.
During the intimate 70-minute conversation, Gardner-Gausten discusses a variety of topics including her music and art projects, Satanism, witchcraft, BDSM relationships, voodoo and the Day of the Dead. The program also includes a demo recording of the Effectionhate track “Bleeding Out,” which is slated to appear on the group’s upcoming album, Music Is Dead. Gardner-Gausten is a Witch in the Church of Satan and has served as a media representative for the organization. Her artwork appeared in her husband Joel Gausten's 2009 book, Words From the Third Side: Essays on Sex, Satan & Success (for which she also contributed an essay on BDSM culture) and will appear in the upcoming second edition of Gausten's 2006 book, Tales of Horror: The History of The Misfits & The Undead.
Formed in 2007 and experimental in nature, Effectionhate creates sounds ranging from techno to classical and atonal industrial noise, with the project's evolving list of contributors ensuring that no two compositions are alike.
Effectionhate currently features full-time member Joel Gausten, a veteran of such bands as Pigface, The Undead and Electric Frankenstein. Contributors include drummer Martin Atkins (Pigface, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Public Image Limited) and guitarist Sonny Bellavance. Music Is Dead is slated for a late 2010/early 2011 release. UFO’S AND THE NATIONAL SECURITY STATE
In 2000, Richard published UFOS AND THE NATIONAL SECURITY STATE: AN UNCLASSIFIED HISTORY, 1941-1973 (republished in 2002 with the subtitle CHRONOLOGY OF A COVER-UP, 1941-1973). This 500-page history provides clear detail on the major UFO cases of the early Cold War era, the attitudes and policies toward UFOs by the military and intelligence community, and the fascinating development of the citizen movements to end UFO secrecy.
In 2009, Richard completed Volume Two of his historical study, subtitled THE COVER-UP EXPOSED, 1973-1991. In this 638-page follow up volume, he provides not only incredible detail and clarity to the key UFO events of that era – he also provides a sophisticated analysis of the politics concerning UFOs – in other words, the cover-up. In addition, he provides a first-ever true history of UFO research itself: a genuine history of ufology. With over 1,000 citations and 1,400 index entries, this second volume is a landmark achievement in the field of UFO research, written in a clear and engaging style designed for newcomers and experienced researchers alike.
Richard has done a great deal of television work, having appeared on many documentaries and shows for the History Channel, Sci Fi Channel, CNN, BBC, and elsewhere. In 2006 he was host to a six-episode series for the Sci Fi Channel called SCIFI INVESTIGATES.

Kult ov Azazel
It’s our misfortune to announce that after 10 years with Kult ov Azazel, Xul has taken an indefinite hiatus from the band and therefore will not be doing any touring or recording during 2010. We respect his decision but we must continue to forge on. From this point forward all vocal duties will be taken over by Xaphan and session guitarist Armanen (Tenebrous) has been added as a permanent member of the band. Former/session member VJS is back as touring bassist. However, due to prior commitments VJS will not be able to do the March Metal Massacre V Fest in Allentown, PA on March 27th so Gio Geraca (Evil Amidst/Malevolent Creation) will be handling bass duties.
Touring begins with the Nihilistic Terror Across Texas campaign in March. We’ll be storming the West Texas Death Fest II in Amarillo, TX on Friday March 12th. The other two days will be spent with Teratism, Witchaven and Hatchet destroying San Antonio, TX on the 13th and Houston, TX on the 14th with 2 deadly nights of devastating black/thrash metal. In July we will headline the main stage of the 20th anniversary of the Michigan Deathfest on the 17th then embark on a 16 day tour with Wolven Ancestry. More 2010 dates are forthcoming and will be posted as confirmed.
Preparation for the yet untitled DVD release is underway. We have combined the sound board audio with a 3 camera mix of our show as direct support for Deicide filmed September 2004. We should have video from the Puerto Rico show very soon. Once in our hands we’ll begin editing the video footage while we wait for the sound board recordings to arrive. The DVD will be released later in the year through Arctic Music and will also include a CD of covers and unreleased material ranging from 1999 to the present.
We are also pleased to announce we have joined forces with Frank Watkins (Gorgoroth/Back From The Dead Productions) as direct management for the band and that the Venom cover is mixed and has been sent to Noise Farm Studio in Texas for mastering. Once mastered it is just a matter of the label setting a release date. “In League With Satan” will be a tribute to Venom limited to 666 copies. This is a split effort with Teratism to be released through Negativity Records.
January 29, 2010 - Hammer will be unavailable for the dates booked in March due to the recently announced Testament tour dates. Instead he’ll be out on the road working for those guys so Tony Laureano (ex-Dimmu Borgir/Angel Corpse/Nile) will be sitting in on drums for the Nihilistic Terror Across Texas tour dates and Gus Rios (Malevolent Creation) for the March Metal Massacre 5 Festival. Gio Geraca (Evil Amidst, Malevolent Creation) will also be filling in on bass for this festival taking place in Reading, PA on March 27th.
