Sunshine, Swaps & Me...

This post will have a little bit about sewing,..but we had sunshine and I am too excited to report on my yard.... We finally had a couple days that reached 60 degrees.  While Mr Fantastic worked on the lawn, I attacked the flower beds.  Our front yard is now 2 years old and we want to keep it looking as good as it did when we first finished it *wink*. {we have a lot of sweat equity in it..*giggle*}

Here's the Before - July 2010:

Those rocks were just laying there...not really stacked at all...

Here's the After - October 2010.. Yes we built those rock walls ourselves and did all of it in just 3 months... WE were INSANE!!!!!

I am not known for my green thumb, by any means.... but I am getting better.   I was so worried when we first did all the landscaping.  I thought all the plants were going to die... happy to report they are doing great.. I added a few flowers this weekend to add some color to my planters...Can't wait for warmer weather and my tulips & tiger lilies to bloom.   Thanks for letting me babble about my yard..

I did get a bit of sewing done... I worked on these early this morning....my Wonky Blocks for the Wonky Bee.  Leah's Fabric choices were sooo YUMMY!   I loved it!

The patterns were easy to follow...

I also received information tonight about my Partner in the Modern She Made Swap... I am so excited about this swap..This will be my first online swap and I can't wait to make something for her.  I sure hope that I have shared enough about me, but just in case...my goal is to share a bit more about myself over the next few weeks..

Here's my first shares... I am 41 years old...and can't believe it!  I feel 27 and refuse to believe I am getting older.  I am married to my best friend.  We have been together since 2000, but only married since 2009... He took awhile to ask... *giggle*  I work full time as a High Voltage Substation Electrician and am around GUYS all day long...so when I get home.. I let my hair down and be a girl,  We have three Furry Children that we cherish...2 Crazy Kitties (Arnold & Lexie)  and one Bouncy Boxer named Jasmine.  They make cameo appearances on the blog, but most often you'll see Arnold sneaking into my quilting pictures...He loves to hang out in my sewing cave with me.

Okay...that's a bit for me tonight.... What are You????  Tell me TWO things about yourself that We don't know yet????

I've linked up with What a Hoot, for the Monday BOM's Away Linky Party..Check it out when you can....

Gorgeous yard! I love working out in the yard.. way more than cleaning house. That's one thing about me.. :o) Love your bee blocks--I worked on my first ever bee block today, too. Sounds like you had the perfect day!

Here's something about me: I am almost 45 years old and I feel like I'm 25, sometimes even 12 :-))))). And I dream of having a house with a garden, not an appartment like now. Maybe one day I will have it, who knows? ;-)

About me - i love being surprised by things that aren't quite what they seem in a good way; i am a total social dork with very little patience for small talk.

Your yard is lovely. I used ot enjoy gardening when I was a kid...New Jersey has the ground for it....in Texas i rarely go outside.

Wow! You guys did a super fantastic job on your yard. It's gorgeous. Did you put the fence in yourselves, too?

Pretty darn sure none of you knows I lived in Tehran, Iran for 2 1/2 years! (Dad was a government contractor there for computer stuff. We left 5 months before their revolution.)

another thing. . . I'm a collector of Newbery Award and Honor books. I have about 300 of them. (There are almost 400 altogether.)

We have an acre and I'm afraid the drought took most of our yard. We had a combo of city lot/country lot. It's mostly the wild country look right now. We are back to 'accent' grass....grin. Mick at 66 is spending most of his time cutting dead trees also lost. The big ones will take a hired man.

Your yard looks wonderful.

Wow those are hard work!! I love working in the yard and growing things. Hard to do in the desert of Las Vegas, but with the right watering it can be done.
And to play along. I have own 6 african pygmy hedgehogs, not all at once!

For some reason, I would swear that I am your partner!! Ha! Am I crazy!
2 things about me? I'm a SAHM, so most days are spent in my pj's and a ponytail. I relish getting dressed up and going out, but it rarely ever happens. On the other hand, I am totally hands on. I know how to use every power tool in the garage and I can do a FEW things to my car, too!
