WIP 08/05/2012

I haven’t made it into the craft room since the surgery; however I did get a couple of blocks made last Thursday that I can show you today. I am slowly on the mend and keep thinking that I need to start sewing something, but it is only day 5. I think I should at least wait a good week before I start over doing it. At this point sitting and typing is just about too much so I should know my limits by now! However, typing this post has exceeded my limits....ouch...just don't tell anyone I am posting....shhhhh...lol

Today I am linking up with WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced and @The Needle and Thread Network.  Make sure you hop on over there and see what everyone else is working on too.

Just a quick post to say that i made it though the surgery yesterday. I'm still in quite a lot of pain so I might not be posting again for a while since sitting and typing do not mesh at this time. I will be trying to read blogs, but i might not be comments all that much

Thank you for all the well wishes!

NewFO April Edition

Today was supposed to be my post for the April NewFO Challenge. However when I went to take pictures of what I started in April I couldn’t a whole heck of a lot. However, I felt like I did a lot...

As you may recall the Challenge put forth by Barbara over at Catpaches was to start one (or more) new projects each month. The idea is for those of us without a lot of UFO (unfinished objects) to start stock piling a few. So it is a pretty great challenge just start something new and no obligations to get it finished.

My big NewFO's for April were my Easter Mini and my Starflower Mini that I made for the Table Topper Blog Hop. Both of these actually got finished in time which made me very happy. I have shown them a few times on here already so you can check them out over HERE.

My other NewFO is my BOM for May. I cut everything out, but I have only gotten one stem sewed together.

And the NewFO that I forgot about is my table runner. Now this was my first official NEWFO project back in January. However, I finally got it pieced together in April so I am still counting it as a NEWFO....LOL

From my April to do list I was able to scratch off nine things. Which makes me very HAPPY
We bee learning Bee group 1 –DONE-
We bee learning bee group 2–DONE-
Bee Creative 2012–DONE-
International Stashes–DONE-
Wonky Bee–DONE-
Easter Mini–DONE-
Blog Hop Mini–DONE-
Piecing together table runner–DONE-
Sandwich and quilting shamrock mini–DONE-

Make sure you take the trip over to Barbara`s blog to see what everyone else started in April!

****on a side note I may be MIA for awhile due to the surgery I have to go for tomorrow morning. I am hoping that they don`t have to fix/remove anything and I will be just out of blogging action for one day or maybe the week-end****

WIP 02/05/2012

Well it is that time of the week again. I didn’t get a lot done in the past week, but I did get my bee blocks finished by the 30th. Two blocks went in the mail on the 30th and the other 2 are going in today, since I forgot to take them along the other day...lol April was a busy month with the blog hop, going away and the 5 bees I am in. Most of my April to do list did not get completed so here is to May being more productive!

Today I am linking up with WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced and @The Needle and Thread Network.  Make sure you hop on over there and see what everyone else is working on too.

Okay so I am going to start with a couple of finishes off of the April to do list.

We Bee Learning group one block for Jane- Whirly giggle. After I got my template to the correct size this was nice and easy to make. Jane asked for girly fabric and I think this will go along nicely with the others.

International Stashers block for Meg- Octagonal Orb for Amy. When I started to sew the triangles together I was amazed at how well my seams were going together. However, when I put the pairs together it started to get a lot less perfect. Nonetheless, I am still really happy with it. It was A LOT of work though. The link to the tutorial can be found HERE

My May to do list
We Bee Learning group one block for Teresa- Still waiting for this one to be posted
We Bee Learning group two block for Barbara-She would like a Bow Tie Block in a theme...I still have to go through my fabric to see if I can find a theme. Or oh no I might have to by more fabric..What a shame....tee hee hee J
Bee Creative 2012 block for Jennifer- Still waiting for this one to be posted
Wonky Bee block for Cherry- It is currently in the mail crossing the border hopefully
International Stashers block for Shauna- Raw edge circles...4 big ole blocks..This one scares me!!!

So there you go my rather long and scary list of what I would like to get done. If you are a regular here you might have noticed that there are some things that are not coming off the list....lol I noticed too and I am going to try and get one thing from the WIP without progress section this month!!!

Seedlings return home

Wow where the heck is this year going and why does it need to get there so darn fast!!! It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in the New Year and now here we are almost half way through 2012! How depressing is that....okay don’t think about it and it isn’t that bad..LOL

I haven’t had a lot of updates about my seedlings on here since they were still at my mother in laws house. However after telling everyone that I wanted them back they finally came home last night. Not all of them, but as much as the back seat of the tuck could carry, which was only 2 trays and a light... I was informed that everything needed to be transplanted into bigger containers so I figured I would just do that myself. I go in for surgery Friday morning so I better get them transplanted before then..cause I am already freaking out and thinking that I won’t wake up from the surgery so maybe this will take my mind off of that for a bit!

Almost all of the seedlings are doing just great. Here are the cauliflower and broccoli. I am going to transplant them today

along with the pickling onions

This is the purple basil and the sweet basil

Parsley and artichokes

Now here is where things get confusing. When my MIL transplanted some of the seedlings she didn’t know which side she took things from. I had them marked but at home and I didn’t know she was going to uproot anything while we were away. This means I have pumpkins and spaghetti squash that I don’t know which are which as well as this.

I think these are my peppers and eggplants

However that means that these should be my oregano and mint....neither which have come up.
Well this one came up a wee bit, but that is it.

So there you go that is a look into my 2012 seedlings. I still have cabbage, leeks, and Brussels sprouts along with the pumpkins and spaghetti squash over at the farm. As long as everything goes well on Friday they will hopefully make it here next week.

Sewing Saturday

I don’t have much to show for sewing Saturday. We ended up going to the city last night and that cut into my sewing time for sure. I did neglect the house work yesterday though and got started on my block for the International stashes bee. Amy has us making and octagonal orb and after almost fainting when I first saw the block it has been pretty easy to put together. There was a lot of cutting and sewing, but for the most part my seams are matching up pretty good.

Once you sew all your rows together you then sew them into little wedding cakes like this.

Now I have to cut these into triangles using a template and then sew all 8 triangles together....which is what I am going to try and get done this afternoon.

This means I just have 1 and a half bee blocks left to make and then I am caught up for April! I’m cutting it close, but I should be able to get them all in the mail on Monday!!

In other news last night I joined up to sell Mary Kay....LOL I don’t even wear make up...oh my. My younger cousin had her first party and plans on making career money selling the product. I attended the party and of course was going to buy something to help her out. However, they had a great deal on their kit if you signed up to be a consultant. What I wanted to buy cost 100 the kit cost 62. Since it will help her out by now having “team members” and I will get 50% off everything I order with no real obligations other than having to make one $200 order in the next year I thought why not. It is a good product and I do need to start taking better care of my skin, so I think it will be a good fit for me.  Don’t worry this is NOT going to become a makeup blog now....I just thought I would share that funny news with everyone.

I also gave the non quilt baby gift to the mommy I blogged about before. Thank you to everyone that made me feel good for not wanting to make a quilt. My gift wasn’t even wanted, although taken. So I am very happy that I didn’t put my heart into a quilt that would have gotten that same response!

Have a great day

Sun where are you!?

Well on my Tuesday post I talked about how nice the weather was and in doing so I have jinxed the weather and made it overcast gloomy and all together yucky...yep all my fault.....Sorry to all of you experiencing the same weather....LOL

Oh well that means it is a perfect day to get things done around the house. That is what I am going to have to keep telling myself as I sit here at the laptop doing nothing...LOL

I still have quite a bit of sewing to get done and mailed out ASAP and the house does need a good cleaning so we shall see which wins out in the end. Wish me and my willpower luck!

I would like to take the time today to say a few thank-yous.

First I would like to thank Sue from http://suedaurio.blogspot.com/
I won her St.Patty’s day blog hop prize. Two AMAZING Pezzy Charm packs. THANK YOU. I have a few  SO MANY ideas of what I would like to use them for.

I would also like to thank Barbara from http://catpatches.blogspot.ca/
I won her Fun Fact Friday Freebie a few weeks ago and my lovely FQ arrive today. This fabric is too darn cute!

Also a big thank you goes out to Madame Samm from SewIQuiltnow for putting together the Table topper Blog Hop. I had so much fun taking part and seeing what everyone else created too. Thanks to everyone that stopped by and took the time to leave a comment and a special thank you to my new followers J

As you may have noticed I have already signed up for the next blog hop. This time hosted by Jane from Jane’s Fabrics. The theme is Red, White and Blue and the hop begins on Canada Day....July 1st.  So my square may be RED, WHITE AND blue backing... ;) But we shall see what I can come up with!

Okay an hour later and at least I can cross blog post off my list.....lol

Have a great day
