New quilt patterns and packs

April 29th, 2012

I recently made a new version of our much loved quilt
Lime and Soda. I made this quilt using David Butler’s
range of fabric called Curious Nature.

The Lime and Soda pattern is available here.
We did have packs for this quilt available
but unfortunately we have sold out.
Please contact us if you would like us
to put a pack together in similar fabrics.

The next quilt is called Steppin Out
and had been designed by Lynn Wilson.
A really simple pattern that is extremely
effective. The pattern uses fat 1/4′s
so it is a great ay to use up your stash.

The pattern for Steppin Out is available
here and you can get the quilt pack here.

Colour Squared is a new pattern from
Ballarat Patchwork. A easy 9 patch
design and a great way to use up your scraps

The pattern for Colour Sqaured
can be purchased here.

Janelle from The Janelle Wind Collection
has been busy designing a beautiful
quilt called Forest Hill.

We also have a pack for this quilt,
unfortunately we have sold
out but we will have more shortly.

and finally we have a pack for
Harlequin Stars.
This pack includes the 64 different
fabrics needed for this quilt.
All the fabrics have been sorted
into 16 groups of 4, one group for each star.
So all the hard work of choosing the fabrics
has been done for you!
The pack does not include the white background fabric.

Busy Busy Busy

April 20th, 2012

I just realised it has been some time since I have posted.
What with getting ready for AQC and dealing with lots of
new stock I just haven’t had the time. If you follow us on
Facebook or Twitter you would be up with all our new
products but if you don’t I will give you the run down.

Great new creative card patterns from Creative Abundance,
including Mr Mushie from May Blossom.

May Blossom is a new label we are stocking
designed by Simone Gooding. These patterns
are the cutest and include a Mouse for a House
and Red and Little Wolf.

We have two new patterns from Melly & Me.
Scotty McSpotty, a very handsome fellow
and the Birdie Backpack.

Until the end of  this month we have 25% OFF
Make it Perfect Patterns. This is a great range
of Ladies and Children’s patterns including
this cute Milkshake Skirt.

I will post again tomorrow with all
our new quilt packs and patterns!

Colour Squared – a new scrappy quilt design

March 22nd, 2012

I love scrappy quilts, and this new quilt has been
made with lots and lots of scraps.

I always cut up small left over scraps
into 2 1/2″ squares.

I then sorted the squares into colours.

Lots and lots of sewing!

and the finished quilt.

The pattern for “Colour Squared” will
be available soon!

Sewing and Creative Cards

March 8th, 2012

Recently we have had a new type of pattern come into stock,
the sewing or creative card. They are usually an easy pattern
printed onto card with simple instructions. I would
not recommend these patterns for the beginners but
would suit anyone with basic sewing skills.
These are much cheaper than a regular pattern,
with prices starting at $4.95 and going only as
high as $13.20 for a slightly more complicated quilt design.

The first range was released by Valorie Wells
and included a great little cell phone wallet,
quick easy quilts and cute kid toys.

Lynn Wilson has also designed some easy
simple quilt cards. We have made
a version of “Steppin Out” and found the
instructions clear and very easy to follow.
Stay tuned for this quilt as packs
will be available.

Creative Abundance has also made
some Creative Cards, which include
little softies from Melly & Me and
cute bags from Rosalie Quinlan.

So get into these fabulous little cards,
great for presents too!

Flea Market Fancy 2012 in store now!!!!

February 21st, 2012

We were lucky enough to get the new release of Flea Market Fancy early.
I loved this fabric the first time and I am so excited to see it again.

We have sold out of some of these
fabrics so if you are interested in getting some
be quick. You can check them out here.

Another new range to arrive is
Curious Nature by David Butler for Parson Gray.

David Butler, the designer behind studio Art of the Midwest, introduces his latest brand directive “Parson Gray.” The new brand guise will focus on print & design for fashion and home with a modern, natural, fine art approach. Richly muted palettes and organic, geometric prints with a loose, hand-drawn sophistication are anchored in modernist simplicity reminiscent of mid-century studio design.

“Curious Nature” is the first collection of prints from Parson Gray. The collection is a folk modern interpretation of natural elements. It weaves together a balance of hand-drawn patterns inspired by Japanese indigo and mid-century fine art. The palette is grounded in richly muted nature tones evoking deep forest and dark ocean balanced by bone ivory and oyster grays.

One more new range, Pocket Full of Posies by Windham Fabrics.
The sample swatches on our web page are from the company’s web site
but they are far brighter than the fabrics.

These colours are much truer and aren’t they beautiful!!!!

10% OFF Cosmo Threads

February 5th, 2012

The 112 different colours of cosmo threads are now up on the

of February we are having 10% OFF.

We also have another treat for our online customers,

Lecien has been producing Cosmo embroidery thread in Japan since 1950. Cosmo thread is made from the best grade of Egyptian cotton available and its texture and sheen is equal to that of silk. Cosmo floss doesn’t twist and tangle like other flosses, and is easy to separate the strands for stitchery projects. Cosmo thread glides smoothly through fabric.

January 29th, 2012

I’ve been watching Jodie’s Rag rug grow and have been getting
a wee bit jealous. So with my heaps of spare time I have decided
to make one of my own.

Only a little bit more to go……

you can check out all the other
rag rug people joining in here.
