Photoshoot05.29.12

Last week, I spent some time trying to get some good shots of Miss Elonie.  I find that I have a lot of pictures of this:

SummerLove Bundle

But, not as many of my girlies.  Chloe’s last week of school was last week so, while she was learning Elonie and I had a couple photo shoots outdoors.  We had some great cloudy days–you can always get the best photos on cloudy days so I took advantage.

I had to take this picture of Elonie:

because, 2 years ago, I took this picture of Chloe:

And another picture of my little goober:

In that photo she’s standing under our weeping peach tree.  It grows teeny little peaches about the size of grapes.  She loves to pick them off and stick them between the spare tire and the tail gate on the back of our jeep.  I went to the grocery store over the weekend and noticed about 10 of them on the ground in the parking spot after I got there–hopefully they weren’t sailing out behind me as I drove down the road–I didn’t hear any unhappy honking as I drove so I think all was well.

I did manage to snap one fabric picture in the last couple of days.

Some fabrics that I’m auditioning for a little stitchery I drew up.  I adore that birch print, it’s a new addition to my stash as well as the Summersville print.

Sunday afternoon we hit the pond, for some fishing with the family.

Finally, after several fishing trips, Chloe snagged her first fish.

Followed by 4 more.  She’s quite the little fisher girl.

Hope your weekend was wonderful as well!

Quilt Market05.23.12

I wasn’t lucky enough to attend Quilt Market this year–hopefully sometime though!  I did have a couple quilts I designed present though. =)  A month or so ago, P&B Textiles contacted me to see if I would be interested in designing quilts for them…it didn’t take me long to take them up on that offer!  I love designing and I love working with new fabrics.  The first quilt I designed used Color Weave which is a collection somewhat similiar to Moda’s Cross Weave fabrics only it is a printed fabric.  You might remember this stack of fabrics:

These are the fabrics I received in the mail from P&B.  It gives you a great idea of the colors and the look of texture these fabrics have.

After seeing the Color Weave scans I came up with this quilt:

Outside the Block Quilt

And here it is in the P&B Textiles Booth at Quilt Market!

My Outside the Block quilt on the Left

I believe that the pattern will be available through P&B Textiles shortly.  It is a wonderfully simple pattern that comes together quickly and it perfect for showcasing larger scale prints.  I’ll let you know when it’s available!

3405.14.12

Today’s the big 34 for me…does anyone else have trouble remembering how old they are? Seriously, I’m all…”so, I was born in ’78, that makes me 30 in ’08–add another 4 years…ok so I must be 34 this year…Ryan is 3-4 years older than me so he’s 37 right now…so, yeah 34 sounds right”. It is such a thought process each time I try to figure out how old I am–Chloe thinks I’m nuts that I have such a hard time remembering. But now, I think I have it figured out…see Tracey, is 1 year younger than me and her birthday is exactly 1 week before mine. So, as long as she posts every year on her birthday, I should be good to go! =p

Everyone attending Quilt Market this weekend or visiting there LQS in the upcoming months is in for a realy treat. The new lines are all just marvelous! I was anxious to see Vanessa’s debut line of fabric after seeing her sneak peeks on her blog;

It totally doesn’t disappoint!–Wonderful line of fabric and I love seeing those purples in there–definitely need more purple fabrics!

Aneela’s new line “Sew Stitchy” fab as usual! You can see a great quilt Aneela made using Sew Stitchy here.

And I’ve been scoping out Kate Spain’s new line Cuzco–I always love a fabric line that has a rainbow of colors & I always feel like Kate really incorporates color into her fabric designs…love it!

And we all know how I feel about Bonnie & Camille’s lines of fabric–fabulous! Another little bundle of Vintage Modern fits right in!

Thank you, Thank you Moda Fabrics!

I’m a Proud Mom!05.09.12

Chloe, my almost 7 year old!, was playing with her Leapster and she decided to make a quilt block.  This is what she came up with…very proud of my little quilt makin’ Chloe!  I took her design on over to EQ7 and this is what the block looked there:

Then I let her color in her block in EQ7.  This is what she came up with:

I took her block and put it into a quilt layout & voila! Chloe’s first ever quilt design:

Cool, right?!?

I don’t know that Chloe will end up being so into fabrics/quilts like I am but that girl does love herself a good craft project!  She did tell me that when she grows up she will have a fabric store and I can work there.  However, she’s also told me that she wants to “be a vet, or a teacher, or maybe I’ll just get a husband”. =p

Chirp Pillow in Stitch Craft Create Magazine05.07.12

You may remember me waxing poetic about the premier issue of Stitch Craft Create last fall.  I was(and still am) so in love with this magazine.  The projects are so doable and there is such a great range of ideas–I think anyone could find at least one(if not more) projects that they would want to try.

I am so excited that my “Chirp” pillow is featured in the issue hitting newstands tommorrow!

I love this little shabby pillow…it has a little bit of stitchy applique, some straight line machine quilting, some stippling, some embroidery, and is chock full of fun shabby fabrics.

The new Lecien fabrics that just came out would be perfect for making one of your own!

All you’d need is a little bit of Linen and you’d be on your way.

Happy Monday!

Busy Busy!05.03.12

I am happy to report that I have been drafted into the ranks of those busily preparing for quilt market. =)  No, not my own line of patterns…yet…but, I have designed a couple quilts for P&B Textiles which will be at quilt market this year…how fun!  That lovely stack of Color Weave fabrics arrived yesterday courtesy of P&B, and has since been whipped into a quilt top.

This little number was bound this past weekend and will soon be on it’s way to one of my new favorite magazines.  Oh how I love Bonnie and Camille’s Vintage Modern line of fabric….so fabulous!  And did you all see this:

Yes, indeed…it’s Bonnie & Camille’s line of fabric which will be debuting at quilt market in just a couple weeks.  It’ll be available for purchase this fall….I’m pretty sure I can’t wait that long…doesn’t someone going to quilt market want to take pity and pick some up for me…. =)

I’ve also added just a couple more items to my Etsy shop:

Talk about Vintage Fig Tree Quilts fabric!

In between all of my other projects, one of my number one priorities is planning a 7 year birthday party for this gal:

May is totally going to zip on by!

Fabric Stack and Brrr! Winner04.27.12

I had a lot of fun playing with some fabric this morning.  It’s possible I might be writing up some pattern instructions for some quilts for Quilt Market and I needed a little bit of a diversion… =)  I had pinned this image from pinterest:

These colors read so summery to me & I wanted to see what I could come up with to coordinate with them from my stash.

I did end up adding in a little bit of a darker blue–I tried it with just the lighter shade and it just didn’t have that needed “pop”.  I’m not sure what quilt I would make with this palette–I didn’t have one in mind as I was playing but I had fun nonetheless.

And now onto the Brrr! giveaway winner–I know you all scrolled down here right away. =p  The winner is:

Amy, #87, who said:

Amy and I are in the Stash Trad bee together.  She also has such a fun blog!  Hey Amy!–Congrats–I just zapped you an email. =)

About being a kid04.16.12

On the right of Ryan’s work truck, there lives a pile of dirt.  Compiled from countless trips on muddy roads, this small pile of dirt is a favorite of a small girl.

It is super fine dirt, very soft–perfect for running through your fingers and letting it blow in the wind.

This small pile of dirt will entertain a little girl for hours.

And cover little toes and jeans with dusty goodness. =)

The simple joys of childhood.
